Hi guys,

I’m looking for some help on identifying why my modchip isn’t working. I installed an Argon chip with wii-clip into my console yesterday. I purchased the console about 3 weeks ago, and the serial number begins LEH185 so I am aware it may be one of the D2C2 boards.
After installation of the clip and chip, the console will still play original games as per usual. I’ve tried two backups (pro evo 2008 & wii balloon, both PAL, written to Maxell DVD-R discs) but have had no success. The blue light comes on, flickers whilst the disc loads, and then turns solid blue.
I’ve attached a couple of shots of my installation below. The D2C chip only has one line of writing saying “GC2-D2C”. The text “APCB D3 94V-0” which is present on some D2C2 boards is NOT on my board.
I guess there are two possibilities here, either I have the new D2C2 board or my installation is faulty. I really need to identify which of the two it is. If I have the new D2C2 board, does anybody know when Infectus will be releasing an update which will solve the problem? I didn’t purchase the Injectus Programmer so I guess I will have to do so to administer any kind of update, unless of course there is a DVD update option.

Thanks in advance for any advice I’m given!

your drive is not a d2c2 model ,so thats not your problem , its a problem with your clip,or your media.

old and new d2c2 board look at the spindles ;)

Thanks for the help didineedthis. I'm going to try with some Verbatim media tomorrow, apparently these are amongst the best for writing Wii DVD's.

Right so I tried some Verbatim DVD-R's so I can rule out the possibility of it being a media issue. The only thing left is for it to either be a clip problem, or if my console still turns out to be a D2C2.

As far as I know, if you've got a real D2C2, chip then you're screwed for now. Some of your solder looks dull though!

Plus, you should try getting it working without the wires for now.

You need a blue flashing light on a real DVD so you know it's working at first. Then try a backup. A still blue light isn't good enough.

When you say my solder looks "dull", what exactly do you mean mate? Sorry I'm not exactly a soldering expert so am not sure what is I've done wrong. Any tips you can give are gratefully appreciated.

To keep things quick... It means that the solder wasn't quite hot enough when it melted. All solder points should be as shiny as each other. If the solder is "dull", then it means that the connection isn't at its best conduction it can be.

I have the exact same symptoms as you. Have fitted plenty of Argons without any problems.

Got an LEH 185******tried onto the legs and on the VIA points, no joy.

I have been told on other forums that the spindle check is not reliable and should be ignored....

Mine according to the pic is the old d2cd board.....

Original discs spin up fine and i get a blue flashing led and able to load game, put a known working backup in same again, spins up blue flashing LED but does not recognise disc and blue led is constant on..

Bilabonic, I'm coming to the conclusion that I've got a D2C2, so I reckon yours is probably the same. I'll keep you posted on whether I find out anymore. As you say, symptons seem pretty identical but there doesn't seem any sure fire way of identifying a D2C2 just yet!
