I just read the "readme" file of the hbc release and it says nothing about wads. Only elfs. and to my knowledge, elfs are for homebrews and wads are for vc, wii ware, and other ninty releases?
so how would one install vc through HBC? i dont wnat to use TPH. thanks.
unless you have a modchip you have to use the TP hack.

Then you can download an iso file (that you burn as a disc & run in the wii) called WAD installer, simply pop it in & put the 'wad' file named 'title.wad' on your SD card, in a folder called wad.
Simple as that.
once you got the home brew channel going, if you're using an sd card, first create a wad folder in the sd cards root and place whatever wads you want created in there. then create a new folder titled wad installer (or whatever) in the apps forlder. place the boot.elf in there and run the homebrew channel. thats should do it.

this is what i did: i put the sd card in i see a folder called private. i create a folder called wads and apps. i put the wad in the wad folder, i opened the apps folder created another folder called installer, put the elf file in it. put the sd card back in wii, run the channel and....nothing happened! all the other apps are working but the installer doesn't activate or show up in the menu etc

get wad installer from above url
rename the .elf from the wad installer into boot.elf
put the boot.elf under its own folder in apps folder
put .wad that you want to install into wad folder (this wad folder should be on the root of SD, same level as apps folder)
to be more presentable, ive edited an .xml file and created an icon so it is more user-friendly
http://i28.tinypic.com/qy7hw7.png rename to icon.png and put in the same folder as boot.elf
http://pastebin.ca/1028766 or http://pastebin.com/f2f5bb77f here this is the .xml file (paste into notepad & save as meta.xml)
edited: added file/dir/path as below:
x:\apps\wadinstaller\boot.elf (from above url & renamed)
x:\apps\wadinstaller\icon.png (use your own or get from above tinypic url)
x:\apps\wadinstaller\meta.xml (i've modified this file using other apps' xml as template)
x:\wad\ -> put your wads in here example:
x:\wad\mywad001.wad
X:\wad\mywad002.wad etc

But you have to use the .ISO (Selfbooting disc image for people with drivechips) from here (http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/) first to install the homebrew channel before proceeding with my steps above. my steps above is for people who already have the homebrew channel installed.
edit: sorry didnt realise that you already have the HBC installed :p

Sorry to dupe this question from another thread, but I want to know:
Will the WAD installer ignore files that were previously installed if I leave them on the SD card, the next time I want to add stuff? Or will it install duplicates unless I delete those first?
I'd like to leave all my installed WADs in the wad folder on the SD card, so it would be easy to run the wad uninstaller if I want to clear it out for any reason.

WAD Manager v1.0 allows you to do that. It will list all the wads in the \wad\ folder on the screen, then you can install/uninstall one by one.

Just tried it out.
The one thing I'm surprised about is it doesn't do batch processing. So for now, there's still a need to have all three apps. All it needs is a "select all to delete", "select all to install", and the ability to tag files individually and then have an "execute" button and it will be perfect.

I agree with you on this. That's why I'm still keeping all of them instead of just using the WAD Manager. :)

I have a wiikey installed and I have installed the beta 8 homebrew channel but when I start the HB channel with the SD card inserted I don't see anything to click on. Just the bubbles going up the screen and playing music.
I have copied the files to the SD card exactly as suggested (even tried the rar file) but I can't get it to see any wad files or anything. What am I doing wrong?
:(

Lax.

Before you installed anything to your sd card, did you format it with FAT?
