I am planning to get a wii-clip for my argon chip, but I heard some of the user review saying it doesn't work or sucks. Is there anyone out there have it installed and it's working?
Thanks,

Got no issues on mine. I have the D2Pro installed on my D2C chipset and it works like gravy. I just have to sometimes switch between my backups and originals every now and again it seems to "reset" the chip.

just because it works for other doesn't mean it will work for you, ( i hope it does ) i have 3 clips here i have taken out this week and soldered in , 2 x d2pro and a d2c pro , none would work. if you can solder it in ,this is your best option.

I agree with you. The way he is directing his thread all he will get are positive answers. It's like asking how many dog owners like dogs. :)

Just like Didi said, "wii clip is a hit or miss". It works for some and doesnt for others. Im not sure what the statistics are. Im guessing it works 75%. but thats just a guess.

worked on mine without problem so far, even took out several times on the first day and back in the next day after realized the problem was bad burn.
then try to put in on a friend's with 2 d2pro/clip, both did not succeed.
soldering skills is one thing, but I guess most people here took the chance with the clip is don't want to do anything to the drive.

Thanks for everyone's input. Seems like some people still doesn't have it worked. I guess it all comes down if it's really installed properly. Where do you guys buy your wii-clip at? Is there any place that have a good deal?
Thanks,

Therein lies the problem with the wii-clip. I searched for a bit and didnt really find many distributers in North America. Most of the sites that I saw were very shady looking. Eventually I ended up going to www.ic2005.com, which at the time was the only North American one I could find. The site still looked a bit questionable to me so I used the paypal plugin (works in IE and Firefox) to generate a credit card from my paypal just in case. Needless to say the clip i wanted at the time had not yet been released but still came late (about two weeks after the supposed release date). Through all that though the staff responded fairly quickly, although you can only contact them through their onsite forums and they usually reply in very poor english. Not necessarily recommending them, but I did get my clip in the end.

Hi Guys, i'm also a reseller on wii-clip.com for the UK just want to add my pennies worth about these clips..... Have sold a good number of them, and yes I do get some returned which are dead for no particular reason other than them being just "faulty" - My ratio is around 1:30 for all versions, which to be honest is a pretty poor ratio for any product from a sellers point of view,- however given the fact of how good this product actually is when it's working and the amount of time and money you save from implementing it makes it well worth it, not to mention the fact that it's easily reversable if you want to remove it in the future (or to send the console back to the big chiefs if it's still under warranty and carefully put back together.... ;) )
As a seller, if a customer reports a fault with and solderless clip & chip wether it be completely dead or having an intermittent fault mentioned earlier in this post I swap them out no questions asked apart from the obvious stuff in my troubleshooting guide - So from your point of view as a potential buyer of this product you should consider that you have a pretty good chance of get a working one (approx 1 in 30) and if you do happen to be an unlucky one all you have to loose is a few days waiting for the returns procedure and £1.24 postage via recorded post to get it sent back to and replaced to your seller. So make sure you purchase from a reputable seller ask them first if they have a returns policy... if they lie and don't adhere to it then you can do your damage by letting the workld know about their service, every seller should treat you like you are a critic reviewing their business, this is the way I like to run things and found that it really is the way forward and having very good results in forums from this practise!
So my opinion is don't be put off from buying one by what you read on the forums, in general you will find people post about problems and bad experiences as they're trying to find help so this is what you mainly get to see when searching about reviews on them, but when things are working fine most people don't bother posting about their positive experience as theres no need because it's done what is says on the tin! The clips are easy to fit and cheap to buy compared to the cost of having a pro hardwire your chip in, and best of all you can actually do it yourself with no previous experience, can garauntee when you DIY and you see your backup work for the first time you'll get an overwhelming feeling of self satisfaction!
Hope this helps!

I have an Argon installed in my Wii. I ordered it pre-soldered to the Wii clip(v2, 13 wire + 4 for region free). When I popped it in the Wii, no blue light on Argon :(. I modded many ps2 consoles in my life and the clip+chip worked every time on first install. I did flash the chip a few times with the Argon1.8, worked every time but still no blue light. After over a week of inserting/popping out the clip and verifying the connectivity, I concluded that the clip was defective.
Next I de-soldered the clip from the chip, installed my SPI flash, flashed my chip with Wasabus9 firmware and soldered my Argon in my Wii. Blue light came on right away on the first try and I have been playing copied games since:D:D
So yes the chip is real good but the clip could be hit and miss.
Now I'm not bashing the clip, just adding my personal experience.

I had a shot with one and a d2ckey. Didn't work at first, some pins didn't make contact so I bent them in more and it worked. After I got it working I kept testing it by removing and putting it back after roughly 20 or so times it two of the pins broke. When removing the clip I wedged it from all corners little by little too.
