Hi all! :D
I am trying to edit the game ISO files (replace some of the files to reduce the size) on Mac OSX. My PC is dead currently, and I dont have spare $ to fix it now... So anyone knows how to do this under OSX? :D
Thank you!
( I did a search, but got no luck)
Iīm on OS X myself, havennīt found any iso applications that work. But you could use virtual pc.

Yep... my Radeon ATi 8500 is dead... :(
And my powerbook is too slow for Virtual PC... so... there is not even a chance of editing PSP iso under OSX? :confused:

I'm using a 12" 1.5 GHZ powerbook with only 512MB ram to edit iso's in Virtual PC 7 running Windows 2000. XP was way too slow, but 2000 can get the total editing job done in less than 30 minutes depending on the size of the iso.
I mount the iso (located in a public folder) using "capture CD image" on the virtual PC menu bar, and then drag the umd_data.bin and psp/game folder from the iso into the vcdromx window. From that point the various subdirectories of game/usrdir/ (such as "data" in Colin Mcrae) can be expanded and individual movies, music tracks, etc can be deleted or zeroed. Vcdromx then creates an .fcd file which it subsequently rebuilds into a playable .iso (not in the case of Colin Mcrae due to copy protection issues).
So in short, the answer is yes, if you count virtual PC 7 running windows 2000 set up properly (i.e. windows additions installed in order to set up directories shared between OSX and virtual PC), at least 5-6 gigs of free HD space for .fdc temp file creation and virtual ram for Virtual PC to eat.
I reckon it would still be possible on a slower powerbook, provided more ram is available (768MB to 1GB total ram at least)

I done it on my old ibook 600 Mhz 512MB ram 40 Gb harddrive, for a joke it ran XP in Virtual PC but took over an hour to create ISO. Mouse was slow moving and jerky.

Pretty sure that Roxio Toast will make you a good ISO image. Also, the original ISO can be mounted directly on the OS X desktop, then just drag select the files you need when creating the Toast ISO.

Toast won't let you do that - at least, not Toast 6. The reason is that Toast respects the read-only properties of dumped iso's, and there's no way to modify the permissions once the iso is mounted. That is, one can change the properties of the iso file itself on the hard drive (i.e. delete/lock it) but not those of the mounted volume. I'm no expert but I believe additional software is needed. Vcdromx and umdgen rebuild the iso to a better spec anyway, I believe. Could be wrong.

yeah, i have tried multiply options on Toast 6 last ngiht for about 4 hours going through about 8 different configurations to rebuilding the iso...all didnt work. Guess us mac users are **** outta luck unless u got virtual pc

A few months ago, I tried rebuilding the demo.iso that came with the early PSP_Fastloaders. OSX can mount iso images easy. Making iso images not so easy. I was able to rebuild demo.iso using command line tool mkisofs (VersionTracker link is down now though). Anyway, got it to work with a few specific options set. Examples below.
$ ./mkisofs -V DEMO -iso-level 1 -relaxed-filenames -N -o DEMO5.ISO /Volumes/DEMOISO/
$ ./mkisofs -V DEMO -iso-level 3 -relaxed-filenames -N -o DEMO6.ISO /Volumes/DEMOISO/
Don't know if mkisofs will work for other psp iso images, but could be worth experimenting with further on OSX.

I've been looking for a copy of Virtual PC for the mac for ages I've found two so far but neither of them worked. I'm using MAC OS 10.2.8 can anybody point me in the direction of Virtual PC? I wanna start ripping ISO's and I think Virtual PC is the only way I'll be able to do it.
