My R button is giving me serious headaches, was fine when i got it but too much aggression on tiger woods has led it to stop working properly
it seems that the button switch is not returning properly so it only works bout half the time
could be a case of cleaning it and it'll work again but how deep into my psps insides do i need to go to do this? i don't mind opening it up so long as i will actually have access to the button and microswitch
either that or does anyone know of a specialist repairer?
its either that or warranty it, but theres no way in a million years i'll be doing that

not very far at all just 6 screws on the back and take the front off to gain access work quick to avoid dust getting onto the screen.
the are not micro switches btw just standard rubber sensitive pads

ive heard of someone else having the problem and in his case, the battery being on the right side caused more problems i.e. the repaired switch would work for a few hours and then stop working again

i've sorted it :)
opened it up and removed the rubber pad under the button, made the surfaces a bit better inside it, cleaned everything up, still no good.
then cut a small flat narrow piece of rizla packet out and placed it between the r button and the rubber switch. fits quite snugly and creates a much better contact on the pad. works like a charm, and as its a good fit it'll not be going anywhere
cheers anyway for your advice dude. am so happy, was really getting on my nerves

ho ho
i'm really happy with it though, as its wedged in it makes the r button springier and should last as long as the psp does.
am over the moon (as you may have noticed)
sony should use rizla packets in production

How did you find the whole dust situation?

nothing really to worry about the foam gasket reseal's fine just try to keep the dust out in the first place.

Superb, so a quick blast of compressed air before resealing should ensure no dust then..
