M3/G6 Question

Ok, i have been looking at buying a cart for my DS. I am going to be using this cart only to play backed up games and some homebrew. After going through lots of threads over the past month or so, i think i have decided on the G6 3rd Generation 4gig. I was just wondering why so many people have chosen to go with the M3 instead. Is it just because of the ability to buy more cards?

Cost of M3 and Passkey - $100
Cost of 2gig kingston CF card - $110 x2 = $220
Total cost - $320 + shipping

G6 -> 4gigabits -> 512mbytes
2 CF -> 32gigabits -> 4gigabytes

Everyone prefers m3 because its cheaper. A 4gbits G6 flashcart is actually only 512mbytes.
This is because they use Gigabits instead of Gigabytes, which is the industry standard. IMO this is a lame attempt to fool consumers into thinking they're getting a bigger card than it is.

anyway, the math you have to do would be:

Cost of M3 and Passkey - $100
Cost of 1gig kingston CF card (twice the capacity of a "4gig" G6flashcart) - $110
Total cost - $210 + shipping
