Hi,

A few weeks ago, I got myself a nice SMG (not downloaded of course). Since I had an error 001, I updated my Wii (US) to 3.0 and 1.9b. It worked great, I played happily ever after...

Until I got SSBB. I burned the iso on a DVD, and when I insert it in the Wii, it asks me to perform an update, and tells me that if I have modified my Wii before, this update might mess everything up... SO obviously I'm s#$*!ng my pants.

I'm quite a newbie here and have no real idea on how to deal with this. I've tried to look around in the forum, but there are lots of very technical stuff, and I have a hard time understanding what I should do.

Could someone direct me to an "easy to understand thread" on this, or tell me what I should do ?

Thanks a lot !!

PS : Perhaps it is worth mentionning that I use a Mac, so if I need very specific software to make it work, it might be an issue for me...
PPS : for other people in my case, it might be a good idea to sticky a thread that gives easy to follow advices

the message you saw was simply a scare tactic. If you're using an SSBB disk from your region, you are safe to apply the update. I've done it myself and can confirm my wiikey still works as expected.

Do you not have to use Brickblocker so it won't update?

SSBB actually includes a small update that's needed to play dual layer games. You can either use the version from your region without risk, or attempt the "15% trick" (something i personally wouldn't attempt - tinkering with flash in such a brute force way just doesn't sit well with me).

Basically a simple brickblock won't do the trick.
