OH PLZ PLEAZ!! DONT TAKE AR GAMZ AWAY NINTY WILL PWN EVERYONE NOOOOOOOOO!! QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ

Grow up guys. This is how all scenes work. No one cares about your pirated games. Hacking is about discovering bugs and exploits that no one has ever seen before and feeling damn good about it. It's not about making sure everyone doesn't have to pay for games.

Not only that, even if Nintendo does decide to break everything that has been accomplished so far, you can be assured that you will eventually get it back along with so, so much more.

i agree with SoggyToast. i'm quite surprised at the whininess of the wii community- here at maxconsole for one- but even in general. it's amazing that there seems to be such a widespread anti-hacking mentality. i wish the wii community would get on the ball already with the program.

and to the person who said that nintendo doesn't care about modchips- really? it seems a modchip would be more threatening than a softmod, as they could readily make updates to patch software.

why protest an alternative to gaining more control of the machine you paid for? that silly mentality, i just don't get.

i pretty sure its the internal flash memory of the Wii, you know the stuff that holds the firmware i think its got an internal storage of 512mb

Questionable acts will always result in a game of cat and mouse. Having Nintendo take action against piracy is only natural, they've just been lazy with regards to modchips.
They shouldn't need to make hardware changes just to clamp down on cfw development anyway, which means modchips shouldn't be affected.

Nintendo will only react if they think it is a threat to their bottom line. If they perceive that the scene is small and isolated then it's not worth their time and money to engineer a solution.

i thought it was 400mb

anyway - vc games, homebrew and dvd playback and hopefully RUNNING ISO'S OFF THE EXTERNAL!!! with CFW's - this could bring great things!

CFW is great, don't get me wrong, but look what happened to the PSP after CFW was released... scared off developers

COULD THE SAME THING MAYBE HAPPENED TO THE WII... LIKE THE N64/PSP?

Won't make a difference -the installed market is too big and the number of owners who'd install a CFW is probably in the low single digit %.

NAND is the type of flash chip. There's NAND flash and NOR flash. The instructions to program/read/erase these chips differ by vendor and in addition the NAND flash/NOR flash both read/write/erase the chips in different ways.

Great news, opens up the doors to so much more for the Wii.

Wireless media centre without half the restrictions we have now, using a media channel linked to your PC or server springs to mind, as well as countless others.

And for those complaining about Nintendo clamping down on piracy, why not think of a CFW that stealths, so it can be used online as well?
