hi, where are the wii game updates stored?

I have two wii's, one is semi bricked and has a modchip, one is new. Can I take semi bricked modded wii drive (with chip) and exchange it with the stock drive on the new wii?

Got pal MK and stupidly updated it on a ntsc wii. Should I just wait it out? since it's updated, when MK NTSC comes out, can I just plug that in, or do I have to wait until an update new than MK comes out...that would probably be a long time from now.

If I burn MK and change it to ntsc (from pal) using regionfrii would that do the trick, or is damage done.

Also, is there a way to force game updates when a new game is in, or is it just automatic.

Thanks

semibrick = when you can still run a game but can't get into the settings. If you have this, run the latest game from your OWN region and update from it.
you cannot just remove the chip or whatever you want to do no ;p
In your case you will have to wait for a game newer than mario kart.
For future reference :STAY UP TO DATE on yer updates! That would have saved you! Wouldn't have bricked anything

Thanks for the reply.

I understand it's fixable with patience. However, if I have two wii's, can't I just switch the drives out, in essence, making my brand new wii the modded wii and the semi bricked wii just standard? The brand new wii would have my old drive (with the old modchip). It boils down to whether the udpate is is on the drive or the motherboard. If it's on the mobo, switching out the drives would work. If it's on the dvd drive, then switching it out would do nothing to fix this.

Also, would it just be any game that comes out after mario kart; i.e. do all games come with an update as they are released, or are there specific games...

Another thought...
Couldn't I simply regionfrii mario kart iso to ntsc, burn it again and get it to update using the ntsc version? I've heard of people updating the jap ssbb on an ntsc console and then using the ntsc version (retail) of ssbb to update and it fixed it?

it will not update again. You can do that BEFORE doing the other update but not after ;) Your wii is already at that version now. And why don't you take the modchip out of the one wii and put it in the other.. The drive is probably linked to the motherboard

Some people have been having success switching out the drives...but before attempting that I had another thought.

I haven't played SSBB (i.e. I haven't updated using this game). Would the mario kart update include the dual layer reader update that ssbb has? If I got my hands on SSBB, would that fix this semi-brick problem?

Is there a link anyone can share that has what updates belong to what games or future updates etc etc...Thanks
