No, your not missing anything, but if you don't have your drive bitsetting to DVD-ROM sometimes people have been known to have issues, also with the speed settings. This just gives users a concrete way to know that they are burning correctly, I have personally burned games at 16x before, I noticed boot times take longer for the game, so burning at a lower rate decreases write errors on most media, good or bad quality. And the patching stops the game from asking for a FW update, also allows users that haven't set region override on the Mod-Chip to match the region on the game itself.

Try checking your bitsetting before burning the -R. Make surebitsetting is set to burn as a DVD-ROM image, if your +R is working, and the -R are not, I honestly do not know, I have tried both -/+ media and everything has worked for me, I always check my settings, DVD-ROM image and speed @ 2.4x is what I mainly check for, that and I use W.i.u. to make sure everything is in order.

Best Regards, and let us know how it goes.

Funny, my 16x rated media doesn't work when burned at 2.4x. Imagine that.

You might want to change the title as downloaded games are not supported

Even though everyone talks about them :rolleyes

I don't see how you can have a bad experience modding a DS >_>. You just put the flash cart in and win. Worst that could happen is you have a Slot-2 card and you somehow mess up installing FlashMe. Aka, take the battery out while it's installing or for some reason shorting something that's not SL1.

Nice guide........but is all that necessary?
I just open the iso with imageburn, and burn away.

It's not all necessary, but users need to stay aware of firmware updates and familiarize themselves with how to stop an update before burning, same thing with region override.

Do we skip the step where we choose our brand in imgburn?
I have a pioneer 112 Burner, and it's not listed to change the setting for this, as you example shows lite-on.

It's best to NOT skip that step as it is important to have bitsetting to the correct media/hardware. If you burn one and it works ok, then keep doing it that way, but most likely you NEED to have it set as a DVD-ROM image.

So what do you suggest since Pioneer isn't listed under booktype brands?

Try burning one copy of SMG, pop it in, if it works, then you don't need to change bitsetting.

Surely he could run it as a dummy without actually burning it........

If that completes 100% no probs just burn for real.

Yes, he could but... I imagine there wouldn't be any errors on the test, but once the DVD-ROM drive on the Wii tries to read a DVD-R/+R when it only reads -ROMS its gonna have problems, but if its already pre-set in the actual DVD burner and just test it out and see, by burning once game and popping it in that should give you your answer.

I thought it actually test writes the data without actually burning it to the disc?!

It was more for the other guy with probs not me really. My burner will burn anything you throw at it regardless if using nero or imgburn.

does this WiU1.1 works on all games, like "Deca Sporta" or "Dragon Quest" or even SSBB??

Nice guide, yet you dont have to bit type the discs i.e. if using a wiikey chip. DL version of SSBB on + disc works perfectly without bitsetting.

Also, you can perfectly use DVD-R's instead of of + discs.

I apoliogize hanz, I didn't update the guide, and to all those wondering, it does not have DL support, so on the DL SSBB it will not work, as for the single layer, itll work fine.
