Who knows he may release it one day if he has a change of heart

Or now that people know it is possible they will start to look into it a bit further

Anyone know how this works? It looks like either the disc is installing the vc game. If its based off trucha wouldn't the newest update kill it? Also, doesn't it disappear after a restart?

fanni
04-07-2008, 05:41 PM
Yes it appears as though he has managed to add the vc game into an update and has got the wii to instal it to a channel as it would when you download the game

Very clever

Really hope it's released;)

no trucha works with the newest update as I can still play my custom guitar hero songs

I don't care who he supposedly is. that camera never moves, and it stays frozen on a screen that can easily be edited. until i see it hit the light of day, i call SHENANIGANS!

Anyways, why would he want to destroy his reputation with a fake video?

moneydog96
04-08-2008, 10:12 PM
To make this video, he would have to had to download the VC game shoot the second part of the footage and delete it. After that he would have to change the time to 5:52 and time it perfectly so inserting the disc, performing the update and doing all the legitamacy checks takes 3 minutes to coincide with the original time of 5:55. Also, it has to be shot in this order because both Wiis are 3.1U. Meaning, he also only has one chance to get the shot right and since update timing isn't exactly measured and posted oftenly it would be difficult to guage. However, it is possible the video was chopped in between one of the paused sequences of the update to ensure the timing was right.

I for one think this is either legit or a well played hoax. Though I seriously doubt someone would go through all that trouble.

LOL i cant believe peeps are getting worked up about the vc being hacked. not only will nintendo block it but there's a much easier way. get yourself a mod chip, the multi emu disc and download any game you want onto a disc. the games stay on a disc, won't take up wii hard drive space AND you can get any game you want whether it's on the vc or not!! all it's needed to play is a gamecube controller.

You do realize how very ignorant that makes you sound right? Europe traditionally waits weeks if not months, sometimes years for games after we get them. They're still waiting for rockband and that came out in nov.

This is real, it works.

I tried Donkey Kong 2 on a friends Wii who has no intention of going online ever.

The reason I didnt try it on mine is cos apparently it alters the wad, & that is something that Nintendo can read online, & therefore could ban you, or similar.

Dunno how true it is, but this is what I've been told:

The reason being is that the information for downloaded VC games is stored inside your Wii. As far as I know, these are kept intact even after you delete the game! This means that some values on your Wii's NAND determine if you can redownload a game or not. The Wii Shop server (most probably) keeps logs of your transactions as well. If the storage inside the Wii and the Wii Shop server does not match up, then Nintendo has real proof that you downloaded the game = ban.

The main reason this is so popular is because emulation is never perfect, and the Wii will emulate all the systems 100% perfect with perfect controls everytime. With emulators you have settings, configurations, blah blah. Wii just works everytime since they're coded to the exact level from nintendo. Much better experience.

How do you know that it doesn't work on most consoles, you tried it? Just shut your trap. "Until I see it work on MY console this is useless" Maybe its useless for you, but it might be usefull for others to make it work on other consoles. But you only want to whine about something that's still in development. Go do it yourself and stop whining.

When that happens, people in Europe need to pitch a fit as well. In this global economy I haven't read/heard a SINGLE, GOOD reason why a company can't release a particular game, around the planet, for all regions on the same day.....(give or take a day).

A WAD packer has been recently released, and I just tried a friend's packed NTSC Ocarina of Time with no luck (we'll toy around with it, I suppose). I've yet to see any NTSC virtual console channels released, but I imagine that they'll be coming soon.

just had a thorght, can we move the VC games to the SD card, deleting the games from the Wii memory and then when you want to play them again copy them back over? is this possible or does DRM stop you from doing this?

reason i thought about this as it's the same game you are copying over and so on so it will have the same signature, right?

also i installed mario 64 with the name "title.wad" after i installed it i renamed the original file mario 64 Wii pal, when i choose to uninstall this game will i have to revert the filename back to "title.wad" so that the uninstallation will work or can i have the file name as it is now?

I have a pal wii and have just downloaded the opera internet channel and the recent wad installer which is freely available via google, and everything ran fine.

Will try a virtual console game later and report back.

well, first of all it must be mentoined that if the internal memory is nearly full and the wad installer itself wants to install a vc game, there is no check if the game which is going to be installed has enough space left on the internal memory.

if thats not the case the internal memory will kick out of bounds with a pretty damn effect. you have to reset your console to get free memory space. simply erase some channels doesn't raise you counter of free blocks. it will always show 0 free blocks!!!

so be very very carefull - otherwise you have to initialize you wii console.

Well things have progressed even more now

There is a new tool out that allows you to inject your own rom into another vc title it has been done sucesfully with Super Smash Bros for the N64.
Also the title in mention is region free as well so that's another first :)

I'm waiting for a goldeneye release

Now that would be something

I would give a link but it's too a well knowen torrent site which is not allowed to be posted here

Well Ive tried this aswell, it works pretty good after needing the Wad Installer v2 since the other one kept breaking down not being able to copy. I got a bunch of VC games working but when I get an error I cant seem to find it on the net.

Something about Error (ret = -1022) Really annoying since I want to play Kirby 64

Also use VC games from your own region since they dont work on a different region, there is a program out there that can change that friizle dizzle something but I havent tested it yet.

Is this true?On one of the youtube tutorials the guy said to turn off wiiconnect24 and all that kinda thing cos nintendo can check the transactions on your wii through some ticket measure and if they see an extra channel then obviously that could lead to some sort of ban/brick/etc

They cannot brick your console, that would be illegal as well as immoral. You bought the wii, they can't destroy your console on purpose or else you could sue. As for banning, there is nothing to ban you from. Every game has their own friends codes and servers so theres no central service to ban you from. Maybe they could ban you from nintendo specific stuff like the store and the channels like news and weather, but not games.

But your main friend code on the console can get banned from getting a hold of the internet, then you're screwed. But nobody knows if they start banning how it will be.

if you play the pirate game you may end up swimming in a closed bay (ie no internet) this is no different with pc or xbox and my guess is its only a matter of time for nintendo as well.

sometimes you do get lucky though and from time to time a game may let you online even if only temporarily, but no company (other than those securom and other malware uses) has ever harmed a system because of pirating... that i know of.

did any of you read Nintendo's User Agreement? It states something to the effect that if you're using modifications to your wii, that they can make your console inoperable until the device is removed. That's why games like smash bros (original disc) wouldnt boot on wiis that had simple device drive mods.

Technically it's Nintendo's intellectual property rights so they can brick all they want. They would just have to deal with lose of good-will and possible warranty issues... I dont think they want to go thru the hassle.

Really? So if I invent a new microchip that's being used in your computer, I can come smash it if I want because it's my intellectual property? It doesn't work that way, they cannot intentionally destroy something you own, period. If they did, then they would be open to a class action lawsuit. It doesn't matter that they made the wii, you bought it, you own it, they cannot destroy it. They could potentially turn it off until you removed the chip, but they cannot destroy something you own.
