Xbox 360 will be first to offer a library of 1,000 games

Microsoft have said that they the Xbox 360 will have a library of 1,000 games by this summer. "We’ll have north of 1,000 games on 360 by the summer, across Live and boxed product," said the VP of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Europe. It is beleived they will become the first system to offer a library of 1,000 games.

"Titles such as our sports games, Scene It! and Guitar Hero – which has become a preferential experience on Xbox 360 – has already proved that, and we have lot more coming in that space this year.

Lewis also reiterated Microsoft’s dedication to the family audience with its Xbox Live service.

“The number of people that have signed up to the Live service so far is testament to the fact that there are a broad spectrum of consumers enjoying the service,” he added.

“That can only grow as we expand the likes of Live Arcade and Live Video Store. We’re listening hard to what casual consumers want as you see us release more and more content that appeals to a broad audience.”

PS3 still have PSone BC, so it is over 1200 titles there. We that have PS2 BC can add 1500 titles. the PS3 library should soon be around 300 titles. That will put us on the 3000 mark, with the newer PS3 owners (w/o PS2 BC) on 1500. Thats not bad. If thats not enough, we cheat a little and install Linux, and emulators to add some thousands more.
So if you want quantity of games, PS3 is the way to go.
