Microsoft: We own 42% of revenues from next-gen hardware, peripherals and software

The VP of Microsoft Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Europe has said that "We’ve taken 42 per cent revenue share of next gen-games market – including hardware, peripherals and software, as well as the stunning performance of Live." He also said that they now have an install base of 17.7 million units worldwide.


“We had to reach and surpass key milestones [before we dropped 360’s UK price]. We had to get to let a level of momentum that we’ve now achieved:

“We’ve taken 42 per cent revenue share of next gen-games market – including hardware, peripherals and software, as well as the stunning performance of Live.

“We’re consistently attaching games at high level – we’re now at north of seven games to every console. That’s considerably more than our competitors and something we’re immensely proud of.

“On top of that, we’ve worked our way to a 17.7 million units worldwide installed base – and Europe is a critical geography within that figure. The ability to continually drive cost through the console is what has allowed us to open up the price of the system now.”

Its great numbers. But the fact they aren't first is what people care about. The price cut was expected and should help Microsoft alot as we get to the golden price of $199.00
They have to take the wii serious and try to to slow it down.

Between Vista, the Yahoo buyout, 1.6 billion fine for proprietary licensing in Europe and the XBOX Doorstop 360, you are already showing chinks in your armor. You can say whatever you want to make you stocks inflated, but the hammer is about to come down. When PS3 starts to be a better investment, and people get wind of what I mentioned above, M$ will start to unravel. Watch the show people,,,,, it's only a matter of time now. :eek:

Kind of ironic though, the 360 doesnt turn profit yet overall. and with its need to purchase Extra content from devs and throw money for exclusives, It might not ever make profit.

But that might workout, since bill needs no money.
