View Full Version : Bungie step in to help member after MS rub artwork from Xbox 360
You may have seen an earlier <a href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=25712" target=_blank">story</a> about Microsoft repair rubbing off various signatures and artwork from a gamers Xbox 360 that was in for service. Bungie has heard about the incident and has decided to take action saying that "Our team and the community as a whole is rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation. It’s been awesome to see such an outpouring of sympathy and support from our community. We can't replace the exact item that was lost but, but we should come very close."

But now Bungie is ready to take action.
"Something is already 'afoot' within Bungie to help our community member in need," Bungie community director Brian Jarrard told Next-Gen on Monday. "Our team and the community as a whole is rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation. It’s been awesome to see such an outpouring of sympathy and support from our community. We can't replace the exact item that was lost but, but we should come very close.
Jarrard is still keeping Bungie's plans under wraps but one can imagine what kind of consolation prize a studio of Bungie's influence and financial stature could provide.
"I think when it’s all said and done, justice will prevail," said Jarrard.

Bungie is way ahead of the curve as far as support for the gaming community goes. They are a top-notch company.

This is probably the single most sad thing I have ever seen.... Seriously. I think they should send him a solid black xbox and a letter with a note saying, "Please get the sand out of your vagina, and act like a grown up. It wasn't like you lost a Van Gogh. Sincerely, Microsoft."
Get over yourself...

You're an idiot. Terrible analogy. If someone came in and smashed your child's face up, you wouldn't see people saying things like "LOL I don't know that kid, this isn't news-worthy!".
The XBox obviously meant something to this person. If it was your XBox, would you be on the 'net saying "LOL! Don't worry, guys, I'm over it!"? If you honestly had an XBox signed by a team responsible for your favourite game as well as other important markings, then lost them all, would you care?

You comparing a 360 to a child makes you the idiot.
If someone came in and smashed up my childs face I would beat them with everything I could find that would cause pain only to throw them off a building afterwards.
If someone rubbed my signatures of people that only really matter to the me id say oh darn, at least my xbox is fixed and I can play it.
I swear, you kids now a days are getting more whiny and spoiled by the day, your parents should be beaten with a wet noodle

Glad to see Bungie step in, but they are only doing it for the free positive PR spin. Nobody does anything for nothing. Wait, I just posted this for nothing. Okay, corporate america (and corporations as a whole) won't do anything for nothing. Now that we have that nice, warm, fuzzy feeling in our tummies we will be more inclined to purchase their next endeavor.

well how about they just send him an empty shell instead of a whole console....since the next "possible" time he has to send it in he wont be a dumb **** and send it with instructions on how to care for his pride and joy.....

Precisely. If anyone did that to a child, regardless whether it was mine or not, I would have no problems with destroying them (or at least trying), but this is a games console that had some signatures on it. It meant something to this kid sure, but it's just not that big a deal as the poster I quoted stated. You would go, "Well s**t, at least I can play my box again, and I can always get those signatures and crap back." This story bouncing around the net makes it seem like the kid lost something truly valuable.

it was valuable. he could have probably sell it on ebay for a nice amount of money
FFS, he clearly asked M$ if it would be ok to send them his XBOX360 and they said yes it's ok. I would be pissed off as well. Good thing Bungie is showing sympathy.

I whole heartedly believe that Bungie's products may not be the height of amazing technical development, but **** a single one of you who deny this kind of community involvement.

Sure it isn't valuable to you..... I wouldn't care neither if it was my console. But it was valuable to HIM, and he is the one to put the value on his things. The company did very well in replying him, the news here is that the company bothered to.
