Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and I am in need of help. I recently tried to mod my wii with an Argon chip and after doing so I got a view "disc read errors" even when I had an original disc in so I decided to completely remove the chip. After removing the chip, the Wii still would not read original discs but ejects and accepts them. When I had the Wii open, I could see the disc wasn't spinning at all. I am wondering if I have fried my drive or why I would get an error like this but can still insert/eject discs?

but can you try to manually get it turning with the wii open?

i had trouble with my d2ckey with it ejecting and inserting discs, and so i disassembled it, and messed with it while the case was open and after about 17 tries to get it to insert/eject it was a smooth transition...i know this isn't what you're speaking about...but hell, maybe it just needs a push. i heard some horrible horror stories about HDDs crashing and people opening them up and manually spinning them to start up so they could get the remaining data off....billy joel it up...spin that thing a melody.

yea i saw that a couple people had suggested manually turning the disc, but when I tried to manually turn it...nothing happened. I'm not exactly sure how to turn it though. Maybe, I was doing something wrong. Basically, when I tried "kick starting it," I just poked my finger through the dvd drive hole and only got the disc moving a couple revolutions per second. Thanks for the quick reply btw. =)

Check for bridges. Always do that first. That seems to be the most common cause for disc drives not opening.

As far as I can see there are no bridges between the vias, I removed everything so I don't think bridging is the problem. Also, my drive does open and close, just doesn't spin.
