The best place to put the Apps and Mp3s (an almost everything else) is on the E drive. This is because it has the most room and is actually used as a sotrage drive by xbox (not that that matters).
There are two things that you will have to:
1 Copy the files to a specified folder on the E drive. For example If you wanted to install XBMP (Xbox Media Player) you would make a the directory structure like this:
E:\Apps\XBMP
Then in THAT XBMP folder would go the files (one of which MIST be default.xbe)
For other applications they would go in there own folder IN the Apps folder.
Most people also like to store Emulators in there own section too. For example MAMEoX might go in:
e:\Emus\MAMEoX
2. You will need to edit the evox.ini file to know where to look for the apps/games/emulators. Open up evox.ini and scroll to the [Menu] section (usually down the bottom). Edit the (Section "Launch Menu") area to something like the following example:
{
Section "Games"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\games\"
SortAll
}
Section "Apps"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
SortAll
}
Section "Emulators"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\emus\"
SortAll
}
}
Make sure you make the directory names the same as they are in the e drive.

As for storing files on the hardrive it is specific of the program that you are using (eg what media player you use for mp3 or what emulator for roms). Most programs that you come across for Xbox will give you support files that will either A tell you where the ROM folder is or tell you how you can change the storage folder.
I will warn you though that the Xbox has very strick filnaming rules. Many mp3 files or Roms will need to be renamed otherwise you will get a failed error when trying to transfer them. There is a program called 'Pre xbox copy tool' which will rename all files for use with the xbox.
(NOTE I did notice when using Pre xbox copy tool that it had one or two characters in the Exclude section of 'Funny Characters' which need to be changed so you will have to delete those entrys from that section if yo uget errors when transfering).

afaik - just using the hacked oo7auf saved game file with evo-x will only get evo-x up and running on your screen - you take the disc out and boot the box up again and you'll be running an original bios and original dashboard.
what you'll need to do is either install an audio or font hack to be able to run unsigned code on your x-box (XBMP requires a signature to run)
what you could do is grab an application made by Wooger called Phoenix GUI (or similar name) and it will automatically do all the hard-work for you, all you need to do is click a few buttons and you're finished.
correct me if I'm wrong about media players / mp3's not running without a signature.

MP3s will work without signing, would be a pain in the ass if they didnt.
Just to add to my post yesterday, if you want to listen to MP3s on your HDD I recommend that you use XBMP. With XBMP you can listen to mp3s on an MP3 CD/DVD, from the HDD (default dir E:\music\) or stream them from your PC.
Cheers
