View Full Version : Diagonals very hard to hit

I have a slight problem with my PSP in that it is extremely difficult to hit the diagonals. It's very hard to jump toward an opponent in DarkStalkers or Street Fighter. I just can't get Up and Right to work at the same time. The D-pad seems a bit stiff on the PSP, but throwing a fireball in a fighting game is damn near impossible. Doing a Dragon punch as Ryu in SF2 is out of the question and charging my Sonic Boom while crouched is laughable.

Is it just me, or is it really hard to press up+right, up+left, down+right, and down+left?

i heard they fixed this issue on the white psp by raising the height of the d-pad.

Question is... will we be able to get spares to fix it? I hope so.

I have also contemplated swapping the d pad with my ps2 control pad...looks similar in size, definately sits higher. but i have my doubts that it will fit. It will look **** too :D

who knows...maybe wen sony fixes the issues with the black psps there will be spare parts floating around on ebay.

I wonder if those asterix face plate and d pads fix the issue....

There is a page out there somewhere on the interweb where some guy shows you how to raise the dpad by putting another layer of rubber in. Google something like "fixing psp dpad".
I will do it later, after my g'tee has expired.

Tutorial on how to mod your Dpad (http://ceramicpsp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=106)

Also, the majority of early ceramics had slightly dodgy Dpads that made up/down as well as diagnols hard to hit.

The later batches came with this mod already done by Sony and they have superb control.
