NTSC Nintendo Wii Help! *PLEASE READ!!*

Okay guys, need some help. I want to get an American Nintendo Wii as of today or asap but I need to know a few questions before choosing modchips. I wish to get Smash Bros. Brawl either U.S or Japanese to playback on an American Wii


Which is better? CycloWiz or WiiKey?
Will Original NTSC (Japanese and American) games work on the Wii if modchipped
Is there new Wii revisions in America which won't allow modchips to be installed?


If there is answers to these questions already, I apologize! I am going to sell my PAL Wii in order to get a U.S Wii and I wish to know the information before doing so.

first off those 2 chips are for older model Wii chips, do you have an older model Wii or are you about to buy one?

old chips - GC2-DMS, GC2R-D2A, GC2-D2B
new chips - GC2-D2C, GC2-D1, GC2-D1A

if you have an older chip and its between the 2 modchips Cyclowiz has better support.

if you getting a new wii then you will have to choose between Argon, d2ckey, d2pro.

yes original games will run on the modded systems there is partial support for region free with the older modchips but i believe the Japanese version of SSB is working only on the Argon, d2ckey(im sure the d2pro will run it too). I read it has problems on the wiikey and im sure the cyclowiz team will have it working soon.

Okay, you've pretty much answered all my questions!

I intend to get a genuine copy of Brawl (Japanese likely) or the American version.

Will the genuine copies work on any chip??

EDIT: The Wii is going to be American and I am going to order it right now after you answer this question ^_^ Hope it makes things clearer

yes genuine copies will work on a modded system, the region of the game is the only thing to worry about.

you will most likely get a newer chip which would be a GC2-D2C, GC2-D1, or GC2-D1A. you will have a choice between:

ARGON claims 80% region free support(may get better with updates) the updater which is sold separate is expensive

d2ckey which has to be wired to be region free don't know the compatibility though. the d2ckey is not able to be updated.

d2pro just got released I believe and are claiming full region free support with 4 extra wires soldered. is updateable.

yes they all support gamecube backups although i dont know about homebrew.

you can buy pre-modded wii on ebay that ship everywhere.
