hi
i have just bought a wii over xmas and am looking at installing a mod chip
i can see they are a lot available
can you recommend one ?
i can solder but i am no expert so the less wires the better a plug in chip would be preferred

You would have to open your Wii to verify which drive chip it has inside to decide what mod chip is needed. If the drive chip is the D2C, then you need to go with a D2C mod chip like D2CKey or Argon. If its the D2B, than you have a couple of selections like Wiikey, Cyclowiz or YAOSM. Chances are that your drive chip pins are cut if its the D2B drive chip, which makes it pretty difficult to install the mod chip. Also, its easier to work with the D2B drive chip because mod chips for this setup normally require 5-6 connections unlike the D2C which is around 13-30 depending on what D2C mod chip you use. If your chip is a D2B, then I would recommend doing the external installation to use a dongle.

first check what chip your Wii has, most likely it will be G2C- D2C, G2C- D1, or G2C- D1A

best you can hope for is a 15 to 16 point solder.
