Call of Duty 4 downlodable maps on the way for PS3 & 360

Santa Monica, CA – February 4, 2008 – Fresh intel from Activision headquarters (Nasdaq: ATVI) reports that new global conflicts are planned in the form of downloadable multiplayer maps for the award-winning Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™. In development for both Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales.

“We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content,” explains Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling. “We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone.”

The worldwide best-selling game in units of 2007, according to The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group, and winner of more than 40 editors’ choice and game of the year honors, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is rated “M” (Mature) by the ESRB for Intense Violence, Strong Language, Blood and Gore. The new downloadable content is scheduled for release this spring, and will be available on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation Network.

i cant connect to xbox live,thanks to ms's repair (just glad i got replacement although it wont connect to live) i got ps3 and i have ps3 version just no way to pay for content.thats why i want it for freee!

at least with live you redeem points and they can be bought in a shop.

this is dlc. Not user generated. You know like made available on many other games on the 360. Unless you can goto a website with no affiliation with ms or the developer, or make the map yourself then this is not what ps3 has on ut3. These are probably made by infinity ward.

There having a map making contest for COD4 going on right now, I would be surprised if that wasn't connected to this news.

Still not the same thing. If this was true UGC then we'd have at least 200 maps by now. probably more given the popularity of the game. thats the benefit of UGC. It's the availability. I wish they would allow UGC for this game. Maybe for COD6. Of course its gonna be really difficult to obtain mass implementation of it if it's always done like UT3. They need server redirects so you can download mods from the game server instead of having to install it first.

1 - Design your maps around your platform of choice (PC, Xbox 360, or PS3); as you never know where it could end up.
