Joystiq report that a guy called Firefl over at the unofficial Gizmondo Forums is claiming that’s he’s created a crack for the Gizmondo that allows him to run unsigned code. The only proof he has is hello world! No one is sure if this is real or a fake, so for now...just treat it with caution.

From what I understand Gizmondo is some kind of hybrid handheld console/mobile phone. More console than Nokia N-Gage though, but with VGA camera and ability to write SMS and stuff. Dunno really though. The games look kinda cheap imo.

You can only write SMS/MMS/eMail on this thing, so it is not really a cellphone like the N-Gage is. And it sucks, has a lot of bugs and the games are very crappy C-title conversion from PC. The ACTUALLY Gizmondo isn't worth to buy. ;) But Tiger Telematics already announced a Widescreen Gizmondo coming out 2006 in the US with a PSP-big screen (480x272). Watch the pics here:

The Gizmondo Widescreen itself looks shitty but the specs are very nice, it's a PSP + N-Gage + DS:

The new model specification includes:
# GSM voice telephony
# Handsfree speakerphone
# Voice control using voice recognition software
# LCD TFT screen 4.0" 480 x 272 pixels
# Upgraded 3D graphics chip

# Onboard RAM
# Onboard flash

# 3.5 Ah Li-Ion 'smart' battery
# 2 mega pixel auto focus camera with LED flash
# Stereo speakers
# Bluetooth class 2
# WLAN 802.11b/g
# Wired stereo headset/mic
# Remote control pod for wired headset

Additional features:
# SMS/MMS/IM receive and send
# Email client
# Satellite Navigation
# Audio and video playback
# Vibration mode

# Smart ADDsTM
# Downloadable screen 2D & 3D 'skins' for personalisation/market positioning
# Bluetooth support for telephony (Headset/Handsfree), gaming, stereo headset (AV)

The specs are nice, aren't they? :)

But after the financial reports reported on GamesIndustry (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=11845) I think the Gizmondo (Widescreen) will never come out. ;)

I bought the originally Gizmondo one month ago in the UK but decided to sell it on eBay to weeks ago because it's really crappy.
