Responding to reports that MS refused to accept 10 million dollars worth of faulty Xbox 360's from EB Australia, an EB chief executive has responded by saying that even when they had a batch problem a half a year ago they were only talking a couple of thousand units so $10 million worth which is 25,000 units is just ridiculous now. He commented that the number of defective Xbox 360's has declined since MS announced the extended warranty.

Wilson said EB Games had experienced high returns due to the red ring of death issue earlier in the Xbox 360's life, but the number of defective consoles had declined since Microsoft announced the extended warranty.

"Even when we had the batch problem six months ago, we were talking about a couple of thousand units," Wilson said. "$10 million is 25,000 units - that's a ridiculous number."

In an interview published on a Seattle Post-Intelligencer blog this month, an anonymous Microsoft employee who has "worked on the Xbox 360 project for many years" said about 30 per cent of all Xbox 360 consoles failed early in their life.

How exactly does an announcement reduce the number of dead consoles?

That's some type of special magic there.

Here, go take this sentence 'Wilson said EB Games had experienced high returns due to the red ring of death issue earlier in the Xbox 360's life, but the number of defective consoles had declined since Microsoft announced the extended warranty' to your "We like learn English" classes, get them to run through it for you.

"He commented that the number of defective Xbox 360's has declined since MS announced the extended warranty"......

Thats because MS found out that if they just keep sending out the same fixed/busted 360's they could keep their public defect numbers down so more people would keep buying. Just because you take a pile of poop, add flowers so air freshener and a new heatsink (lol) doesnt make it any less of a pile of poop :)

I would think it's obvious that once Microsoft started repairing defective consoles, the amount of defectives decreased.

Fixed it for you.

Your style of commenting leads me to think that your'e British. (and a Condescending sod to boot)

however just because company A, doesn't feel effect X, because company B, services X does not REDUCE X.

Take this analogy to your kindergarten teacher and listen close to what she says.
