Hi,

I'm still looking for a cheaper replacement for a 8gig MS pro duo.
(this (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=98616) ebay pro duo was a fake)

I found this adapter (http://www.superufo.com/product_html/PC_Computer_MICRO_SD_TO_MS_PRO_DUO_ADAPTOR.html#), and Micro SD 8Gig are available from about 50€.

I was wondering has anyone tried this on a PSP? I am espescially interested in the SDHC property of the micro SD card. Anybody know what this does with a PSP.

Besides being cheaper, it could prove to be the ideal solution for easier access, since the Micro SD cards come with a usb adapter. that way, I can use the micro SD card as a USB stick for all kinds of sh*t and also use it as a pro duo or the PSP.

Anybody any experience with this?

Update
There is already a thread for this: here it is (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=97144)

my assumption is that the micro sdhc won't work. it will most likely need to be just regular micro sd, which means 2gb or under.

Hi

I have successfully used a 4gb Micro SHDC card with a MS Pro adapter on a PSP running 3.71 M33-4.

The memory card and adapter is manufactured by Peak (http://www.peakhardware.com)

I've used an adapter and 2Gb microSD cards for quite some time. The 2GB microSD cards can be had under $20 from one of the specialty computer stores near me. I don't know about the SDHC cards but I think they are pin compatible.

They may be pin compatible, but they are not functionally compatible.

MicroSDHC will not work in MicroSD devices.

What about speed? Is it as fast a MS Pro Duo card?

My 4GB MicroSDHC I use for my DS has a transfer rate of 20MB/s and a random access rate of 0.7 ms.

Interesting... so if speed is not an issue. Which card and adapter would be the best one to get that would be cheaper than a 4GB MS Pro Duo?

I can't say what adapter will be cheaper because the Peak one mentioned previously is only available in Europe. It's the only microSDHC available.

As far as microSD cards go, the A-Data 4GB Class 6 card is $27 + $4 shipping at NewEgg.com. That is the card I use in my DS, and I'd buy another one if I needed to.

I have one of these on order now. I'll get it this week. I'll post a blackspeed benchmark on it.

I'll also run the ever-popular A-Data 4GB microSDHC.

I just got my Peak MS adapter. Here are the results of my benchmark using Blackspeed 2.0.

The thing will work, but it's not the greatest.

Edit:

It's a 19.7MB/s, 0.8ms MicroSDHC card. It'll work better in my DS.

Unless you specifically have the Peak card I mentioned (currently the only micro SDHC compatible adapter), you won't be able to use Micro SDHC cards.

Try a 1GB or 2GB card.

It should. But... It may not be very good. SanDisk microSDHC's are slower.

Thanks for the response. You've been using other MicroSDHC cards besides Peak and they work still to right? Ive been trying to get one but they dont ship to the US.

I had to go through hoops to get mine. I pestered all the retailers, and I finally found one willing to ship Royal Mail Airsure. I had to call them up twice to get them the CC information.

Really, it's not worth the hassle. Although... It is nice to have one form of media.

Hey IBNobody... you remember which seller that was? Thinking of selling the one you got?

http://electrowise.com/

They have them, but they may not be on their website.

And I might sell the one I have for the price I paid ($54.60 and $4 extra for shipping) if someone was interested in saving all the hassle involved in calling up a place based in England.

I live in the USA, BTW.

So would that be pretty much $60 for the 4gb card and that adapter?

I bought the adapter from IBNobody and it works with Sandisk 8gb memory stick. And I love the heck out of it. I forgot I have to tell IBNobody the speed on it.
