xbox drives in all versions (arcade, premium and elite) all flashable?

i am hoping of getting the arcade, but i do not know if the drives in the xboxes are predefined e.g.

arcade = hitachi
premium = samsung
elite = philips

or are they random?

is there a way of telling through the serials?

its random, but in the arcade ones you usually find benq or hitachi 79

same with the elite and pro. 5 systems bought between November and now between a few friends turned up 4 pros - 2 Hitachi, 2 Benq and 1 elite - Hitachi.

you wont find any other drives in consoles now but the benq and hitachi 79's unless they change there strategy again

I have bought 2 Arcade packs in the last 2 weeks - one had the Hitachi 79 and the other the Benq drive.
