Developer Team17 had promised that the Wii exclusive Worms: A Space Oddity would feature a fully functional online component and future downloadable content through WiiConnect24. However these features have not made it into the end product.

Let's start with the bad news. In our initial interviews with Team17, the developer promised that the Wii exclusive Worms: A Space Oddity would feature a fully hashed-out online component and future downloadable content through WiiConnect24. Well, we've just finished our first hands-on demo with the title and we can state that none of these promised features made it into the end product -- a truth that is beyond disappointing, especially since the Worms franchise is ideally suited for both. No reason has been offered for these omissions. We're going to post a poll in this preview in which you can make your opinion on the subject known, one way or the other.

this has nothing to do with Wii having no online.. or nintendo.. Blame the developers.. there are online games for wii.. More and more 3rd party and 1st party titles for Wii are WiFi enabled, and almost every DS game that comes out has wiFi support now..

Its the developers fault. Dont buy it, if you are not satisfied

No, blame it on Nintendo and their crappy dev kit. Most of the same developers for the xbox are devs for the Wii, so why would they elect to include it on one console and not the other? It's probably hours of work to implement it on the 360, and weeks of work to get it going on the Wii, the cost is definitely out weighing the benefit.

Well, then explain games like MOH:H2. and games like GHIII... which will offer DLC as well as wifi play..

I am not saying nintendo is 100% on the up and up with online.. but surely if one developer can do it... Others can too..

How can you even say something like that if you have no idea about the dev-kit that is published by nintendo?

Proove that its the dev-kits fault and I take back what I just said, but until then I wont take ya post serious.

Oh come on Team 17, your letting all the Wiiboys down, don't make me come down there and start a protest! I live like 10minutes drive from your offices, I can have the protest boards made be there in 30 minutes...:p

So sad i've loved their games since the beginning and only just found out they are local.

Maybe they still have time to include the online play, and it just wasn't ready for the DEMO.

Now your just pulling figures out your ass. I sure hope you washed them before posting them here.

Team 17 has a long track record of releasing crap Worms games with good ones being the exception not the rule. The second DS one was ok, but before that you have to go all the back to the Dreamcast to find a good one.

If PSP can do it why can't the Wii?

dummie, that now nothing to do with nintendo or the wii itself, but with team17.

even the ds-version has online-play, so why does team17 screw up here? poor performance.

Team17 has had more disappointments in their history than successes so this is no surprise. Worms Forts was utter trash. The first Worms game on DS was appalling. I just hope they haven't screwed the Wii version up so much that it's unplayable even with offline multiplayer.

I might believe you that the online dev kit was crappy if I thought you had any idea what you were talking about. Hey! Maybe the Nintendo online dev kit is amazingly easy, and the only reason they're not implementing online is because they don't think anyone plays online with the Wii, and they'd rather rush it to market! I bet that's what their CEO thought! I bet that's true because I have no freakin' idea.

I never said what I stated was fact, it's my opinion of why companies don't implement features on one console opposed to another. It's a much better theory than the one I quoted which states that companies can easily add a feature but choose not to cause they think noone plays online, yet they implemented it on another console, that makes loads of sense. As for the person who said "what about moh and guitar hero" well I'm sure it was worth the extra dev time and dollars to implement those features, the better question is why do only a couple of 3rd parties implement online multiplayer and the majority don't?
