I went to a download page of 3.80 m33 at PSP Slim Hacks and, ironically, it also had a download of the OFFICIAL Firmware. Which I downloaded. Is there anyway to downgrade back to 3.60 M33, I have a Slim. I'm begging you, I LOVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE!!
Edit: I have a friend with custom firmware 3.71 m33-4 (Phat) and a nand dump of my PSP while on M33 3.71. Will Depetaro de Cemontar work?

I just converted 4 today, you need a Magic Memory Stick, and a Pandora Battery, install the 3.71 CFW in recovery mode and you're good.

Is it possible to make a Pandora's Battery with PSP Slim? Or do I need to use a Phat PSP? And when you say recovery, do you mean when I insert the Pandora's Battery?

Just use your friends PSP to make a pandora and MMS, then use it to reflash YOUR NAND from 3.71m33 and you'll be good to go.

Are you sure that will work and not cause a brick? Could anyone else confirm this? And thank you for the help so far everyone. It's really appreciated.

Actually I'm not. The links were on tops and under each other. It was a simple mistake of a mouse click. Screw you. And thanks for the help tbdawg. By the way, is there a simpler way to making a Pandora's Battery and MMS then the original way? Can you use UPMS? This guide says you can:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/580254 But I only need a Pandora's Battery and a MMS.

First you're welcome. Second check out the forum in my sig, there are guides there for the UPMS, including vids. We also provide support.

Okay. I've looked at this one:
http://z3.invisionfree.com/PSP_Maxconsole_UPMS/index.php?showtopic=146
After I finish Step 16, do I just stick the Pandora's Battery and the UPMS in my Slim? And from there how do I restore my Nand dump? Or do I use it to run Despertar Cementerio v3? And just upgrade to 3.71 m33-2? Would that work, from official 3.80 firmware? Thanks.

For booting the slim PSP
1) Put the UPMS in.
2) Put the power switch to the HOLD position.
3) While holding the Ltrig insert your Pandoras battery.
4) Wait for the PSP to shutdown. (If folders are already set to DCv3 it will boot to DCv3)
5) Remove the Pandoras battery, and put the power switch to normal position.
6) Again, while holding the Ltrig insert the battery. (should boot to the UL menu)
7) Go to the tools menu, and select either Nandtool or Nandmanager and make a Nand dump. (you will go back to this menu to reflash it as well. If you made the Nand dump with DCv3 then just move the file to the nandtool or nandmanager folder at the root of your mem stick.)
8) Go back to the main UL menu and select DCv3 and press X to install 3.71m33-2.

Yes, it works on all firmware to date.

I think I used this to get my nand dump:
http://pspslimhacks.com/open-source-nand-dumper-v01-for-the-psp-slim-cfw-3xx/
And how do I set the folders folders to DCv3? The other step I'm having trouble with is 7. Exactly what do I select to reflash my nand dump? And where should I put my nand dump on my memory stick? Sorry for asking some many questions, thanks!

tbdawg

Well, since you used that tool, look at the root of your mem stick and you should find a folder named nandTool_dumps put your backup here and then follow step #7 below and choose Nandtool. If you want to use Nandmanager then use the folder named nanddump.

What's the difference? And does that mean it doesn't matter what I used to dump my nand, I just use whatever app I want? And one final (hopefully) question.
How do I set the folders folders to DCv3?

tbdawg
01-15-2008, 09:52 PM
Yup use whatever app ya want. To set the folders to DCv3 on a fat just boot your UPMS and then select it from the UL menu. On a slim put the PWR switch to the HOLD position as instructed below while booting the UPMS.

Thanks. Although, I have one more question. Here:
http://www.upms-project.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=2
It says not to use 3.80 M33. Does that mean this won't work for me, or is it just talking about restoring a 3.80 m33 nand dump?

tbdawg

UPMS installer is not currently working on 3.80m33, however it is being working.

Okay. I get to borrow my friend's psp tomorrow. Hopefully I can try then. Thanks for everything. I don't know what I would have done without your help. Thanks for the patience too!
Edit: Does it matter if my Nand dump isn't from 3.71 m33-2? I know it's 3.71 m33. And do I need a nand dump if I'm using DCv3?

Nand dump don't matter, i have several and use them to jump from one firm to another. Just make sure that you keep a backup on your PC in case you corrupt your keys or something in the future.

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T OVERWRITE YOUR KEYS WITH FRIENDS PSP

use the restore nand option without touching IDSTORAGE

What would make me overwrite it? I mean how? And which app has that option. I'm really confused. Are you telling me not to use DCv3? And should I make a bacup of my keys. And are they different from my Nand? And I thought I wasn't restoring my Nand, only installing 3.71 m3302?

You should only use a nand dump on the same PSP that it came from, and in this case only is it OK to write the full dump back to the PSP. Othewise just use the lfash part of the nand to write to a PSP (not recommended). Yes do make a back up of your keys (some are PSP specific so be sure you know which PSP it goes to as well, I use the PSPs serial # found by the barcode) as well with keycleaner or ID storage in case at some piont all you need is just one key or if you need to edit it for some reason. Yes they are slightly different, the keys are just a backup of your ID storage keys, each one as it's own file, whereas the nand is a complete backup of everything that is in your psp flash (kinda like making a complete backup of your PCs hard drive).
If you use DCv3 to unbrick your PSP then yes you will only be installing 3.71m33-2, and if you restore the Nand back up of that PSP back to the Same PSp then you will be restoring it back to the state at which it was when you made that nand backup (including all themes, settings, etc.).

Okay. My PSP isn't bricked, so Ill just use the nand dump. Does DCv3 have that option or did you think my psp was bricked? Because it is only on official 3.80. And how can I backup my keys on official 3.80? Thanks. I now have the custom firmware psp and I want to try, but I don't want to brick anything.
Edit: I use Nandtool or Nandmanager, right?

Well, If you make the UPMS, you can do as we previously discussed and do it from the tools/elf menu and use nandtool or nandmanager. I couldn't remember there for a minute if it was currently bricked, but i remember what the situation is now. As far as backing up your Keys goes, since you have a slim you'll first need to get on CFW and then run the apps (Keycleaner/ID Storage Manager) from the XMB, as they won't currently work correctly from a pandora stick on the slim PSP.

pandora battery + mms + despertar cementario = 100% guaranteed cfw installed on ANY psp fat or slim from ANY firmware because this is a hardware hack. This is the only way i install cfw now so easy and repeatable :)
