Microsoft confirms Mass Effect sells 1 million units in under three weeks

Despite early estimates suggesting Mass Effect wasn't performing too well, Microsoft has recently stepped out to confirm that it in actual fact the critically acclaimed RPG has got off to a great start selling 1 million units in just under three weeks.



Bell did not specify whether the one million figure is a global data point or for the U.S. only (Update: it's a worldwide sales total). Nevertheless, one million sold in under three weeks is a fantastic start and yet another reason for Microsoft to do everything in their power to keep the franchise exclusive to Xbox 360.

all this hype around bioshock and cod4, both are great games. But I find mass effect to be the freshest out of the 3 as far as creativity. This game is a flawed masterpiece. The graphics have some framerate issues, and the inventory interface manages poorly. But flaws aside, this game deserves to be mentioned as one of...if not the best game this year overall. I think this game is an instant classic and will be remembered as one of the best rpg's of all time!!!

Where did you see they hype outside of gaming sites and forums where people already know about the game I havent seen anything no commercials, flyers, standees...nothing that I can recall, the only commericals I have seen lately for video games have been for Brain Age 2 and Ratchet & Clank.

I feel the same. I never saw anything on TV about this one. The only thing I ever knew about the game before its release, was what Kotaku posted on their site about it.

Its a great game that really deserves it!

This is awesome news. Games amazing im loving it and i am only 2 hours into it.

I defintly recommend this game.... At first it's intimidating and looks too complex but you will eventually get it and when you do.... The experience is amazing... I recommend this game over Halo 3... Despite some of the game flaws, which hopefully will get patched, It's a true next gen game world.

People will find anything to hate on something else. Its rediculous! Its a good fuckin game, get over it. You'll have your long awaited line up sometime in 2008.
