not the right forum to mention illegal downloading

not the right firmware in your modchip to bypass the mario galaxy protection ;)

1) update your chip to the latest firmware
2) boot a new pal game like metroid prime 3 to update your wii's firmware
3) boot ntsc smg and allow it to update
4) you will now have a couple of channels duplicated on your homepage but ntsc smg will now play.

assuming you have a mod from a company who gives a toss and has upgraded their firmware.

Sounds like the game is fine but your modchip needs its firmware updating

that depends on what modchip you have but i'd suggest visiting the manufactureres website and look there (google will help you to find the makers website).
