thanks for this
but no 3.72?? as you said theres not much there in 3.72
but for ps3 users there is, the remote play wake on lan feature
hopefully you could make it work on 3.71 m33-3 or just easily make 3.72 m33
or is it possible just to swap the prx's??? from 3.72 to 3.71 m33-3??
thanks

Thank you Dark_AleX.
Never used plugins before. Wondered why popsloader wouldn't appear at plugins menu in recovery. You should have included that pops.txt file in this release too. :D
For everyone having the same problem: simply put "pops.txt" to "ms0:/seplugins/". pops.txt must contain this line: "ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx".
put popsman.prx,pops.prx,pafmini.prx and libpspvmc.prx in seplugins/popsloader/

Thanks for clearing that up! :) I'd like to know that too. Anyway they have reworked the home/settings menu for pops. Everything is clearly arranged now. :)

Thats what I actually believe. Multiple discs may need to be merged into one single EBOOT file. I hoped D_A figured that out. :o

you go to 3.71m33 first (just dl that, along with 371 eboot ), then apply the -3 update after, its easy , no worries. Almost like install official firmware now.

Or it may well be that something (some bits) in the eboot has to be set, or perhaps only specific games (game ID) supported by PSN will give any option at all. Are there even any multi-disc games on PSN as of yet?

It is normal. It can't allocate the full 52 MB, becaue a bit of user memory is used by the own prx, and by the sony module usersystemlib.prx.

Thanks for your hard work D.A. much appreciated
Wow, thank you for the update :)
Pops is more or less the only reason, i switched to CFW almost a year ago.
And here's my question: How exactly can i get access to the 3.72 pops?
I'm on 3.71M33-2 + 1.50kernel addon right now.
What do i have exactly to do? Update to 3.71M33-3, i suppose.
But where comes the 3.72 pops from? Or do i have to copy some files to the flash via the bootmenu? I never did that, because it never was neccesary, so i need a little help here.
Thanks :)
Thank you for another quality release. :)

download the 3.72 eboot from the official sony site, download psardumper from dark alex' site.
Stick the eboot.pbp on the root of your mem stick , put psardumper in the game folder of your psp. run psardumper, copy the pops files (the readme of m33-3 tells you which ones I think) to your seplugins dir, renaming them to match.
After installing m33-3 of course.

Dark_AleX, adding the following lines to loadprx sample from hensdk made OE no-umd mode work for games that previously only ran on UMD required mode
pspSdkInstallNoDeviceCheckPatch();
pspSdkInstallNoPlainModuleCheckPatch();
It works on 3.52 M33-4 but on 3.71 it doesn't. Are these functions broken on 3.71?
Any chance including an updated loadmodule/loadprx sample for m33 and/or np9660? :D

i believe the 1.5 addon that was installed for 3.71m33-2 should still work with this new 3.71m33-3 should be no need to reinstall it or for a new version of that addon .. i could be wrong...
anyone else have a answer for this..

Awsome release (pops loader :) )
@Dark_Alex
I have one main question.
- Why are all your updates are in must use the "UPDATE" folder in order to launch?
You see, I like to have this and 1.5 kernel add-on in the same memory stick for usage on other psps, but due to the fact both of these use the same folder, I have to use filer or on a pc to rename folders to use either of the updates.
I remember before..... "M33UPDATE", "M33UPDATE4", etc...

Dark_AleX

Dark_AleX, adding the following lines to loadprx sample from hensdk made OE no-umd mode work for games that previously only ran on UMD required mode
pspSdkInstallNoDeviceCheckPatch();
pspSdkInstallNoPlainModuleCheckPatch();
It works on 3.52 M33-4 but on 3.71 it doesn't. Are these functions broken on 3.71?
Any chance including an updated loadmodule/loadprx sample for m33 and/or np9660? :D
Those functions should never be used in 2.00+ programming, they have bad consequences in them.
What they did in 1.00 and 1.50 is done by the cfw core in the more complicated way that new firmwares require.

I enabled the popsloader in the recovery menu, I copied the correct popsloader pack over, yet I can't get the popsloader menu to load... You're supposed to hold the R button when loading the psx game, right?
Here's something really funny... Resident Evil 2 now works fine, whereas before it didn't work at all. I didn't change anything else!
Edit: Got the menu to pop up... I had to disable CWCHEAT. It still doesn't explain why RE2 wasn't working and now it is??!?

Ok here's is to anyone not getting the plugin to work
THE FILE POPS.TXT NEEDS TO BE IN YOUR seplugin FOLDER
This is what tells the recovery where to find a plugin.
Perhaps Dark_Alex could edit is first post of this thread to make that notice.
Now if RE2 now works , it is using the default firmware pops , which should be 3.71? Because to use the 3.72 , you'll have to select first in the menu.
So i'm guessing RE2 works since 3.71.

Twice now.
I get it to 3.71 m33 v3.
I format flash1 to make it nice n neat. Bricked.
Im guessing dont format flash1 anymore?
And jasonuks extended pandora flash1 fix didnt do anything either.
Just turns on black screen forever.
When i do it in recovery it says restarting, then pops up, I get the psp blue screen saying press circle.
Then turns off and thatsi t.
Also if i restore from nand, my ipl and mac is nuked, so I have to do a full restore
Another odd thing, when i restore full nand and ipl, when its done the psp goes into a reboot circle. Until i boot into recovery, then format flash1

Am i the only one who has sound issues when using pops from 3.72 eboot?
I am playing FF7 (as always) and only updated from 3.52 to 3.71-3 today, Because i was curious to test 3.72 for multi-disc. (I play ff7 on 3.30) Someone also said that the filtering might have changed , making it look good in a bigger screen mode. I personally don't see a difference there.
The moment the PSX logo appears , the chime sounds horrible, then does everything else in the game. Could be isolated to FF7 game id only? Or do you guys play other games that don't sound good?

posted lot of times...
Download ofw 3.72
Download M33_NEWPSARDUMPER (http://exophase.com/psp/download/M33_NEWPSARDUMPER.zip)
Open USB Connection and put 3.72 eboot (rename it to UPDATE.PBP) in root of mem stick
Put PSARDUMPER in Game (3.71 kernal)
Run Psardumper
Press Square
After it's done dumping, open USB Connection and copy premo_plugin.prx (f0\vsh\module) and premo_plugin.rco (f0\vsh\resource) and paste them somewhere for safe keeping
You can delete the folder now.
Open recovery menu on PSP (right bumper and turn on with PSP still connected to PC)
Go to advanced
Select Toggle USB (flash0)
A new window should pop up on your PC
Make sure you have hidden files and system files viewable
Replace premo_plugin.prx (vsh\module) and premo_plugin.rco (vsh\resource) with the ones you copied
Select Toggle USB (flash0) to disable
Restart PSP

Ok, Im guessing my psps flash1 is broken.
I turned on skip sony logo, didnt work. turned off, on, didnt work.
I try the new recovery plugin.
I see option to disable updates.
I turn it on and hit network update thinking it wouldnt work.
So it popped up asking for a connection. I cancel and go to turn the recovery option off. Open recovery, freezes my psp.
i reboot, thinkin that didnt do anything. i turn off the recovery option. and close recovery pluging. check netconnection again, still asked for connection. I go to open recovery again, froze.
I reboot again, NOW its skipping the sony logo...
Good thing i got a bbuy warranty

Thanks again DAX !
Even if don't play PS1 games and I only have a Phat...
3.xx kernel seems to be a bit more useable.
S&L RAM also seems to be more and more useable.
I format flash1 to make it nice n neat. Bricked.
Im guessing dont format flash1 anymore?
The "format flash1" option only formats flash1 and does not create dirs.
Since 3.70 (3.60 ?), when booting without dirs, it seems dirs are created, but a bug in Sony code makes the reboot function (when pushing O) not working and, even more dangerous, it seems it must reaccess flash1 and it hangs and that write access during hanging destroys flash1 partition. You only have not to push O and reboot manually.
But you don't have to format flash1 at every update ! It is even more useless as there are no changes in the main core that can affect flash1 (still 3.71 kernel).
When you have a part of lflash destroyed, you can use nandTool from cory1492 to format lflash (and then reinstall a firmware to your PSP) or write a good lflash from a nand dump.
nice!
Thanx a lot for continuing your work. You made my psp a cool device!

Very, very, very, very, very, very, THANKS Dark-Alex, everything works great!!!
Only one question: hellDashX have sad that the HX version is the same as the M33-2 only with the 3.72 kernel! So i have test to install the HX version and after replace the vshcrtl.prx from the M33-2 version(to make the installer thinking that i am on M33). And than i would test to install the M33-3 over, and after the the kernel1.5 patch, but everthing crash.
So wat can be the problem? I now you won't release a 3.72M33 but is it possible to copy/past a 3.71M33-3 with the 3.72kernel manually (at my one risks!!)

Read the readme of the dark-alex.org "popsloader w/ all pops compatible". thats the 3.52 release, it has it pretty much with a good guide.
But i can tell you too,
F0 folder on PC is fine, now what you do is, browse the folders for the files mentioned in the readme, vsh/modules/pops.prx popsman.prx etc. , its 4 files for the new versions, and 3 for the old. Please read the readme , i dont have the names in my head right now. Just copy these files over to the popsloader folder, RENAME them to pops372.prx (for example) where 372 is the firmware version. all 4 files of 3.72 for example get a 372 added after their name (before the .prx). Once thats done, decrypt the other versions and do the same (for example pops352.prx etc). When thats done the sefolder also needs a pops.txt including the ms0 line so the recovery menu can recognize the popsloader.prx module, only need the line ONCE, then activate it in recovery.

so, i am to decrypt 3.00 and get kd/popsman.prx, kd/meaudio.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx renamed to kd/popsman300.prx, kd/meaudio300.prx, kd/pops300.prx, vsh/module/pafmini300.prx
then do same for 3.10
then 3.72
and stick 'em in seplugins folder, edit txt file with ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx, enable it from recovery and viola! right?
1 thing tough, i did decrypt 3.72 but i dont have a kd/meaudio.prx, i have a kd/msaudio.prx. is that a typo on D_A's side or did it somehow screw up on me?
List of files needed for each version:
3.00-3.03: kd/popsman.prx, kd/meaudio.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.10-3.30: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx
3.40-3.72: kd/popsman.prx, kd/pops.prx, vsh/module/pafmini.prx, vsh/module/libpspvmc.prx
as you can see, here is the list for the popsloader files.
Just read the readme, that a good thing...

Thanks again DAX !
Even if don't play PS1 games and I only have a Phat...
3.xx kernel seems to be a bit more useable.
S&L RAM also seems to be more and more useable.
Ahh ok. Well I thought my flash1 was messed up because my Skip sony logo didnt work.
Then all of a sudden after recovery prx froze, It worked. So I was wondering if my flash1 wasnt saving the setting properly.
So I disabled the skip sony logo and then it disabled it. But all my plugins were disabled. So i enable it, and STILL has the sony logo. I dont know why this wont stick.

It doesn't work because the vshctrl isn't hexed with the new addresses, as it was in 3.72 HX-1.
If you are going to swap files around, you might aswell just copy the premo_plugin stuff for remote play into 3.71 M33-3 - better to be on a complete firmware than a hack job.

As always I appreciate a good update.. but there are some things I don't understand.
Some of my .CSO files that used to work under 3.52 M33-4 no longer work under any setting.. things like platypus, GO! Sudoku, Deluxe Puzzle Bobble, and a few others. I can't seem to get castlevania to run either..
is there any explanation for this?? I know at least why my Strider 2 PSX stopped working.. but why would a CSO lose compatibility? and I see that these games are all listed as working in the compatibility thread.. so whats the problem?
other than that, everything is working smoothly.. thanks for another update!

is it true that with 3.71m33-2 and -3 the module folder is called podule
I would also like to know this.
How would I go about installing a theme (K5 for 3.71M33)?
Is it any different from 3.52M33 as I just upgraded from that?
Edit: NVM I figured it out.

enable skip sony logo at recovery, exit, when psp restarts watch for Memory Stick led, when it flashes first time hold R. you wont enter recovery but skip logo will work. that is till you enter recovery again. then you need to do this again.

Do I need to flash my PSP to each version CFW from 3.00 - 3.72 to get those files? Any other way and guide?
You simply need 'New PSAR Dumper' to dump the original 'firmware eboots'.
-Go here to get 'New PSAR Dumper'
http://dark-alex.org/index.php?Dark_Alex=m33
-Go here to get the 'Firmware EBOOTS'
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/36
-Put New PSAR Dumper into the game3xx folder, and the EBOOT on the root of your memorystick. Push Square to decrypt.
-you will now have the dumped firmware on your memstick in the F0 Folder.
-search for the listed prx's.
-one EBOOT at a time, rename needed prx's with the version # that you dumped
-enjoy all versions of pops.

Thanks Dark_AleX!
Just upgraded my Slim PSP and this is a wonderful release. The popsloader is great. Its just a shame that 3.72 POPS didn't seem to improve on much and has stopped some games from working properly. I'm having the best luck with 3.40 POPS files so far.
And that annoying brightness going up/down when you start/exit a PSX game is still there. But that is something with SONY's code right?
And now that its even easier for developers to allocate more RAM, I am very excited to see what may lie in store for future homebrew & emulators.

Since I did a stupid thing and updated to 3.72 H-X when it appeared that you hadn't retired afterall, would it be possible to make your own version of 3.72 that you could upgrade over the top of the H-X version, as soon as you can, for those who don't wish to downgrade because of a higher risk compared to when you upgrade, and for those who can't afford either a premade or the items for an Pandora?
I think yours are better thats all, and if you're not retiring I wish to continue supporting the best Custom Firmware around in M33, although I use the M33 term loosely because the rest of the team had probably most definitely retired.

sucks to be you then n00b, your gonna have to wait and see if anything happens next, DAX has already stated there is no point in making a 3.72 cfw due to the fact there are no kernal differences in the firmwares
Its posts like your own that dev's don't like, stupid requests by people who want **** handed to them on a plate; there are ways outta your predicament, your PSP isn't dependant on DAX releasing a 3.72 cfw just because you upgraded to an unknown firmware.
Also, downgrading is no riskier than upgrading, you wouldn't be using a downgrader perse; more one of the recovery packages which use the same flash process to both downgrade and upgrade

Nah, I'm not really dependant on anything, it's just that I now have to find Slim emulators after that because of no 1.50 core.
I also said the fingers crossed part loosely as with any other situration like this, so no I'm not expecting another Firmware handed to me on a plate, just the later 4.00 or whatever is next for DAX being upgradeable from the 3.72 HX firmware as well as DAX's original 3.71 editions, like with upgrading from OE to M33 in the past, as well as from the early M33 versions.
Stuff like Pandora comes at a cost to either buy some equipment for one or to buy a ready made one.

Since you already on 3.72 HX you can use cory149's ospbt 0.3 to create the battery & use DAX's despertar del cementerio v3 to create the memory stick to downgrade to 3.71 M33-2 so I don't see what is the fuss :)

install ipl with msinst which comes with first pandora.
now, put cory's tool in PSP\GAME and create pandora battery.
Remember to backup battery eeprom before create the battery
tala your done!
To make battery normal - take out battery & boot up with power adapter
Put back the battery back once PSP is boot up

Alex-Dark ,

Many thanks DA!
It is good to know that the scene is kept alive! The PSP scene, and that means amongst others the capabilities made through your custom firmwares, are the de facto standard for all console scenes out there. Many thanks again!

Thank you Dark_AleX for your hard work ;)
There is still a weird bug with the m33 firmware, some game isos produce corrupted savedata each time they try to save. I currently found 3 games that produce this bug: hot shot golf (EU US and JP versions) final fantasy 1 anniversary (US and JP) and outrun 2006. This is not a problem of bad isos it seems. I successfully loaded savedata that I grabbed from the net but when the game saves over it, it becomes corrupt.
Tested on a fat and a slim psp with 3.71 m33-3 firmware and a formated memory stick.
Hope it will help

HotShotsGolf works perfectly fine with 3.52M33-4
It's my favourite game and if 3.71M33 corrupts saves,then I just can't upgrade :(

I have no recovery menu coming up when holding Right bumper on startup - is there something wrong?
By your 1 post I can only imagine that it's because you own a stock storebought unmodified PSP. One NEEDS to have a custom firmware installed already before they can enter recovery mode
You're welcome

sorry it is running the latest M33-3 firmware - I got it new when it was released - a shiny new 1.50 PSP (ah the memories!).
so as I said, running 3.71 M33-3 firmware, holding right bumper on startup and no recovery menu....I can access VSH menu pressing select, but no recovery on this?

Illegal Machine did you fix or find out what the problem with your .cso files was? Also what exactly happens? does it show up as a corrupt icon, or when you choose the cso file it simply doesn't load or does it show up at all? I am having trouble with cso's now too. Not sure if it's a problem with the upgrade or the cso as I've never used this particular cso before.

nevermind my question - I am being really stupid considering I have been doing this since the first CFW was released!!!
i've figured it out, i wasn't pressing it before flipping the switch, was holding it from the SCE screen! D'OH!!!!

well, it can't be the card.. as Dax suggested, because those same games used to work when I was on 3.52 M33-4 with the same card. which is a sony 8 Gb that I bought at Best Buy (so I know its legit)
So I can't imagine what the problem could be. the majority of my favorite .cso files work.. and work well on the M33 driver.. I haven't had as much luck with the Sony np driver because namco museum doesn't load with it
Im at a loss on that one.. but its a small issue compared to my decision to reflash the premo .prx and .rco in an attempt to gain remote play functionality on my slim.
I really wish DAX would consider the loss of remote play functionality as a more important issue, and release 3.72 M33

Ha ha sorry I quoted the wrong post. But anyways, it was about the cso's. So far it only seems to be the one cso for me. The worst thing is that I downloaded it a while ago and never used it so I don't know if it ever worked and can't get it again as the file name is not the game name so I haven't a clue what it even is .

Spot on - make sure you also have 'MC0:\seplugins\pops.txt' and this file has 1 line in it 'ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx'
I have problems run it:
1. convert all the bump files needed
2. install the plugin and activate it
3. open a PSX game
and....
Nothing happens, black screen!! (PSP only shutdown by removing the battery :()
I try to also choose other kernel versions by pressing R at begining of the game and when I choose one of it, the same happens, the back screen!!
Any help?!
If I take disable the plugin the PSX game run. Still I'm trying to using POPS to see if I can run that game with no issues.

LIke i said in a post there are bugs on 3.71 m33-2 that are found in 3.71 m33-3 too:
Hi, I found some problems in 3.71 m33-2:
- If you open the web browser and you close it if you press select it dosen't apper VSH menu to solve this you have to click in one of the icons that have subicons (for example in game you have have to click on memory stick to solve it or in pictures you have to click on memory stick to solve it)
-In VSH there are some speeds like for example if you have change the speed of XMB to 222 MHZ and 75/37 on in the speed of GAME and you close it and you open it again you can't change the speed of GAME or the usb device.
- If you disable the option to charge the opening_plugin.rco at startup and you enter to the recovery and you close it it charges the opening_plugin.rco.
· There are some combinations of XMB speed and GAME speed that, depend of the situation, if you press on the VSH reset device it closes the VSH and it dosen't restart or it the PSP freezes. It freezes too if you click on iso video mount (in my case i don't have any). For example if you have 333 mhz on xmb speed and 100 in game if you change on of them and click reset device it closes the vsh and dosen't restart and if you close the vsh any of the speed you put it wouldn't restart the device trought the VSH.
· And another that is also in two versions: but i don't know if it's a bug: If you put a low velocity like 20/10 in xmb if you run a game or a hombrew the sound that sounds when you are on the white screen that says PSP it sounds twice.
Bye :)

Maybe on the Slim it'd be possible to keep it accessible :p
-In VSH there are some speeds like for example if you have chan the speed of XMB to 222 MHZ and 75/37 on in the speed of GAME and you close it and you open it again you can change the speed of GAME or the usb device.I think you mean the vshmenu will not reopen after you set the CPU to a certain speed, which I dunno about :p
- If you disable the option to charge the opening_plugin.rco at startup and you enter to the recovery and you close it it charges the opening_plugin.rco.I assume you are talking about "Skip SCE intro". Indeed, it hasn't been working properly since 3.71 M33. But, if you press R just after the memory stick flashes and before the VSH appears, it skips the menu and continues to skip it until you change a recovery option.
