morinzo1978, will this fix the update problem with the msg: "Update failure, check the connections and try again" ?

If yes, It works in any wiikey?

Tia.

ive only tested on a atmega8 not a original or clone wiikey, but if you have a atmega8 chip and programer it will work..

This hex is made to be flashed onto a 28-pin ATMega8, using the flasher that you can build by reading the guide on www.chiip.dl.am.

Theoretically, it should work on the WiiKey, but you would have to solder to all the applicable points. I am not sure, but perhaps you can temporarily solder to the appropriate pin numbers as indicated on the above site, but you'd have to use your head a bit. Doing this could theoretically ressurect a "bricked" or broken Wiikey or Wiikey clone.

I can personally confirm that flashing an atmega8 with Westek's dump (I used the 1.9b version a while back) DOES work, and DVD upgrade also works (and in turn, SMG works).

Please note the light green one on the far left; I had to stare at it for ten minutes before I could find where the sixth wire went :P

Edit: You don't have to do the secondary ground or the resistor. Just use the ground on pin 8, and ignore that 1k resistor entirely.

hi all! i'm planning to update my wiikey via the programmer since the dvd way won't let me update.. it keeps giving me error.. the chip on my wiikey says atmega8l.. i quick soldered my wiikey to the board so no wires or anything.. now, i'm planning to solder wires to the wiikey so i can connect it the the programmer (chiip programmer) i built..

my question is, is it safe to update my wiikey (hex) via programmer even though the wiikey is connected to the board due to the quick solder?

please help.. thanks

This is gonna sound well noob but!!

Do you have to desolder you wiikey to use the programmer or can you clip wires to the chip?

Is there any ISO so we can try to update our chip via software?
