I want to make a Parallel to port cable, but have some questions. After looking at this guide: http://www.hackmiiwii.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/cheapmod.pdf
I notice the guy never bothers with the whole "diode" issue. In addition, he just uses the cable from the serial and plugs it his pc's parallel port. He confirmed it worked for him, and I want to give it a try. I looked all over town for a parallel to serial cable, and just couldn't find one.
I came home and was looking through my old equipment and found an old printer cable, and an old serial cable for a wireless keyboard that used an ir device to detect the signal (ala nes lightgun). The printer was male (what I needed) and the keyboard dongle was female (what I needed).
I was thinking of slicing thsese cables, and twisting them to each other. Problem, from what I see, is that...I don't know what wire belongs to what pin, so I can't get the ports to match.

Is there any specific color coding for these wire? Cause, all of them are color coded (brown with green stripes, brown, green, green with brown stripes), but I don't know the code.
Is there anyway for me to make a DVD Tool cable out of this equipment?
