Major Nelson of Xbox has issued another warning against Xbox Live account sharing and gamesave tampering, he quite bluntly warns not to ever do it. Some of the effects of account sharing include the losing of your Gamertag, Gamerscore, saved games and any points that you may have on the account.

I have mentioned this a couple of times on my podcasts, but I want to make sure those that don't listen to the show get the message. Specifically, don't share your account information. If you run into that person in Halo 3 who claims if they could have your LIVE ID name and password to recover your Xbox LIVE account to their Xbox and they'll rank you up or find you all the hidden skulls in Halo 3, I urge you not to fall to temptation. While it may be appealing, in addition to violating the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use it can also result in you permanently losing your account. If that 'friend' of yours decides not return your account and buys a bunch of Arcade titles and movies on your account, there is nothing we can do except cancel the account since you willingly shared your information.

Cancelled.

As in you can never get it back.

In addition to losing your Gamertag, you'll also lose your Gamerscore, saved games and any points you have on the account.

what is wrong with account sharing if people pay for it?
so if you invite people to your house it means they cant play if they dont log into their account?

I think their getting at more along the lines of sharing it with strangers. Not really with the friends you trust.

I guess from the example there have been people in Halo 3 telling other players that if they give their account login and pass to LIVE they will rank up their players or get achievements or whatever. Prob with that is they also can use up your points. And other malicious acts.

How does Major Nelson tell the difference between your freind and a stranger?

If My friend brings over his copy of gears of war, and his single player game save on a memory card, and I play some single player, then hop online, Using His save file, but My Live account, Am I subject to a banning?

thats the way I read it. Pretty crappy that you pay for less freedom thanks to a gamerscore that acually means nothing and gives you no real "advantage".

Yes, it gives acces to the persons entire live account. Email, credit card info, name, address, etc. You might as well hand your wallet to someone. If someone wants me to rank them up just PM me :D I'm jk of course.

Any company that sells you paid accounts for anything will tell you that account sharing is bad simply because for them its a lost sale.

Im pretty sure as long as you don't try to log in with the same account on 2 different boxes at once, they have no way to know.

you won't get in trouble if a friend comes over and plays your account. that is well within the rules.

this may be because some people are using others acounts to play live arcade games. but I have no idea. Steam has a similair policy.

hey stupid people we have no flaws in our system. shut up or we will ban you.

How dare you allow your friend to use your acct, he should have to pay for his own acct, to play a game he already paid for, so he can play it online.

Could you imagine an REAL ISP saying that, now little johnny, you paid for dial up. And you have to use it on your own machine and your own house. lame-burger!

ya the hammer is going to fall from m$. sadly, not looking out for customers that PAID them $50 to access online game playing.

Have they even mentioned fixing HALO3 glitches/bugs yet? or are they just going to drop the hammer on those people too. the pefect game with glitches, why take a ship to fly around use a dumpster.

where do you come up with this? he is telling people not to get fished and reminding them account sharing is against the rules. you think sony has a different policy for warhawk and other services? If you do legetimate things like let your friends play ur account when they visit, or play theire account on ur box when they visit, you will never have a problem.

Well i am not sure if this is right or wrong, but if it was wrong it would be dumb on there part...

Surely when you signed up to there service you had to accept the terms of use? And i presume this would be in the usage policy, so whether you paid for it or not, you (not literally you) broke the contract (Agreement).

Like i said it might be wrong, but it doubt it, but if it is, then i am sorry.
