View Full Version : Capcom apologizes to PS3 owners for Monster Hunter Wii Switch
According to internet reports, the latest edition of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has some tidbits from Capcom regarding Monster Hunter which switched from the PS3 to the Wii. Capcom apologized to PS3 owners but gave hope that the title could actually come to the PS3 and PSP in the long-run due to their multi-platform strategy.
“Also in the news section is a tiny interview regarding the recent platform switch for Monster Hunter 3 from the PS3 to the Wii. Asked if it was possible that the Monster Hunter series would still come to the PS3, Capcom’s publicity department said that Capcom has a multiplatform strategy, so they cannot deny the possibility. Asked if numbered versions of the game could appear on the PSP, the response was that the PSP portable series has an important position within the company. Finally, Famitsu pointed out that some people may have purchased a PS3 once Monster Hunter 3 was announced last year. This drew a big apology from the Capcom reps, who said that PS3 owners should wait for further announcements in the series.“

Please its capcom ... the apology is hardly heartfelt (where was the one for resident evil 4 ?) and is just a roundabout way to say that the game wont be exclusive anywhere , and that a ps3 and 360 version is likely to follow the wii's

^^^ Hah! Nice!. Still i love MH on my PSP. I hope there's a new one with true online play. A PS3 version wouldnt be bad either. Then again, I can see a wii version, where u use the wiimote to swing ur sword...

I went out and bought Monster Hunter Freedom for the PSP because everyone thought it was so good...someone please tell me it gets better I have only played a few hours but so far its just run around on some rather drab looking tundra and ice caves, kill some buffalo looking things and kill some raptor looking things, found some honey, collected bugs and cooked some meat....I though after I did the training stuff it would get alot better but so far its just more of the same. Maybe im just impatient but so far im really bored with playing nanook of the north...does it get better? Please dont take this as bashing...i really want to know if im missing something, I just havent gotten far enough into the game or if this game just isnt for me.

Wasnt it supposed to be a GC exclusive back then ? With multiple times claims it wouldnt come on ps2 ?
It was a classy move , given how some people mostly bought the console for it

Man, I play MH for hours. This game can be solo but the most fun comes from playing with your buddies during the harder quest & group training. You can play via Xlink online ya know and join your fellow hunters from different region. Also customizing weapon & armour, looking for materials. The scenery & background is amazing for the game n for some map kinda like Jurassic Park area or Star Wars racing desert scene, beautiful. The game also has many funny comedic scenes & action of the characters & monster. Wait till u get some chef cats & little porko pet...
Thanks CAPCOM!!! LOV U!!! Do hope it comes to PS3 :D

you are impatioent =D
you wont get good items and stuff in a couple of hours, at the beginning you kill crappy monsters, you build armors and weapons, get higher rank, and you get harder quests, where you get more items to make even better equipment. This game is not like any other you just start, and 10 minutes into the game you know everything about it. You keep learing and getting better. This game would probably last months for someone who never played it before.

Cool thanks to both of you thats what I wanted to know...sounds like it gets better so I will stick with it, sounds like I just have to drudge through the early parts of the game...I had the same problem with Blue Dragon..it dragged ass for the the first 4-5 hours then picked up the pace quick.

This is exactly the reason this game tends to get such mediocre review scores, you'll be 10 hours in before you really begin to enjoy the game and 50 hours in before you realize that you're likely gonna play this game more than any other game you own in order to get all the weapons and armor you want. It's common to see people who have plugged in 100+ hours and are still relative newbies to the game, it's that awesome.

Um...why is Capcom apologizing over a mediocre game like Monster Hunter not coming to the Ps3? I mean it's not like Capcom doesn't have SEVERAL better/more top tier games than Monster Hunter which COULD debut on the Ps3. I don't really care that Monster Hunter isn't on Ps3, does anybody else? I don't know, for some reason, it really doesn't seem like that much of a loss to me...until it does come out. *shrug*

Tell that to the millions of MH fans in Japan & elsewhere. :(
Come on, there are certain games you buy the game console for. I remember going for Super Nintendo for the Super Mario, Street Fighter & the FFantasy game. Getting PS just for FF VII and PS2 for MGS2 Sons of Liberty & ZOE 2nd runner. I'm pretty content with my game library until the next games makes me want to buy the newer console. Maybe games like MH3 for some ?? Who knows.
I still haven't got my PS3 though, been eyeing several titles now on that system. I really like MH series and do hope Capcom release a new one on PS3 and make it more worthwhile. :)

The problem with the move to the Wii is that it's a console geared towards casual gamers. So, either the Wii itself is going to have to make a shift to hardcore gamers, which moving this game might help do, or they dumb down the game for the casual gamer (throw in a lock-on mechanism). The point about the guy that just played it for a couple of hours and he doesn't see the fun just proves my point.
Also, a mediocre game? Really, didn't MH series break a couple of records? I know it held the #1 spot in Japan for a while.

But what type of a person plays a game they don't enjoy for 10+ hours, just in the hope that they may enjoy it later?
it's that awesome.
It certainly doesn't sound it. I was gonna give it a try on the psp when I got chance, but this thread has just completely put me off the game. (perversely, it's the people who think it's good rather than bad that have put me off).

Eh? what has time played got to do with hardcore/casual? Many games over the past 20 years could be completed in less than a few hours yet are still considered hardcore (look at the metal gear series - MGS on the psx can be completed in little over two hours). If a game drags on and on for hours that doesn't make it hardcore, just boring.
By your logic all movies should be 9hours epics to be even considered "serious" works of art.

What I'm saying is that this isn't a game that hands everything to you from the beginning. No, not every game has to be long to be hardcore, but his is one of those games. The first couple of hours especially if you are new to the series are simply a big tutorial. Even the first real monster you fight is a big tutorial. If you played it enough you can jump right in and move along the game at a fast pace. The hardcore here is taking the time to master the moves and understanding the monsters patterns, this game is a throwback to many many older games where you aren't basically pointed in the direction you should go, you get many options about what you want to do. But you haven't even touched the game, so I can't see why you are even making a point of talking about a game you haven't played. If you're new you may think that the improving you weapons give you a big edge to this game, but you'd be wrong as well. The concept is all about patterns, the fact the guy didn't even get to the first real monster in the amount of hours he's spent just proves that point.

The apology is kinda dumb in my eyes, but I know there's a lot of whinny ps3 fans (petition to keep DMC exclusive???? what the hell were they thinking?), so I guess they have their reasons.
Now as far as MH being a crappy or whatever game all I can say is that it depends on your tastes; definitely it's not a game for everyone, but what makes it a hardcore game for me it's the complexity in the game. Every little thing you do has repercussions, and there's so many different ways of getting things done. Still, I also think that hardcore-ness depends on the tastes of who's judging. I haven't played much of the second part yet, but I did play a few hours of the first one and I loved it. I liked things that I usually don't like in other games (anything related to item creation I usually hate), and was maybe the first game that I really wanted to play online with a buddy.... errr actually needed as some of the monsters are damn near impossible by yourself.

Nah, I couldn't care for DMC4. It's not in my most wanted list. Love the 1st DMC, the 2nd was most boring for me. Awful huge space of map with little enemies onscreen, wtf, god damn harvesting the red orbs such long ardous tasks and time taken, stop playing it halfway. However, DMC3 kinda redeem itself, borrowed from my friend to play it. Ok, and satisfied. From the looks of the DMC4 trailer and gameplay is so so, I prefer Onimusha series more. I personally don't care for the exclusivity deal, great games should be played & promote to all as other gamers will enjoy it except...for maybe Final Fantasy..I couldn't imagine playing FF in another console after getting used to it in PS1 & 2 and the dualshock, weird.

Well, I don't think so. I've feeling PS3 is here to stay for long time just like PS2. Can't imagine it were to die prematurely, hopefully those games are released to get my fix. Look at all those great titles "oldies" and the new one. The old ones looking forward are FF series, Resident Evil, God of War, Parasite Eve (anyone remember this), Team ICO(what next after SOC?), Front Mission (I doubt anyone play this), MH, GT, Prince of Persia, Ratchet n Clank, Yakuza etc...god...I can't remember all those games I played on PS.The new ones, like Eye of Judgement, loco roco, White Knight Story, LBP, Afrika plus couple of nice ports from other console & pc games. My PS3 love affair will continue.. :D

It was merely an example of how immature some fans can be, that goes for the other 2 consoles too, I haven't beat a DMC game since the first one, but I admit is more due to time issues/priorities than me not liking the game (I loved playing with the chick in part 2). As far as exclusivity goes, I believe that both FF, and MGS should be timed exclusives, so that everyone that wants to play both games can play them. Not saying that they will or won't be mind you.
