View Full Version : Noby Noby Boy a PS3 exclusive due to Katamari creator liking PS3 specs
Katamari Damacy director Keita Takahashi was recently why asked he decided to make Noby Noby Boy a PS3 exclusive and he responded by stating that going multiplatform means more effort. But further to this, he chose the PS3 exclusively due to the specification of the machine.
GSUK: Why did you decide to make it a PlayStation 3 exclusive?
KT: I definitely understand the idea behind games going multiplatform, however going multiplatform does mean extra effort. The reason I chose PlayStation 3 on this occasion is simply due to the specification of the hardware, and looking at the time line I had in his mind with this idea. I thought the PS3 would best suit that schedule, and that's the reason.

Glad to hear that developers finally start to like the PS3.
Hopefully he's team will be able to overcome the challenges facing other development teams when it come to the PS3.

Ya, because we all know how "spec" oriented the Katamari games were
And judging by the demo/movies of Noby Noby Boy, it looks like another simplistic game with simple shapes that a Gamecube could easily dish out.
That's not to say the game won't be fun (I thoroughly enjoyed Beautiful Katamari), but to say it is being developed specifically because of the PS3 specs is quite dumb.

ahh but youre missing out on which "specs" this guy liked. it was the financial specs, sony presented which allowed him to come to grips with the consoles draw. haha.

Im glad someone figured out what that was...all I could see in the demo was a pink blobby thing stretching out while farm animals walked over it. Im sure it will be plenty weird and fun like Katamari was but Keita Takahashi really needs to lay off the drugs.

Doesn't sound like any talk about finances, but hardware.
Again, my point being this is not looking like a hardware intensive game whatsoever.
But yet again (just so no flaming starts) the game has the potential to be very fun.

Grapeape OF COURSE, had to jump in with the ridiculous support of an xbot. It
seems like you guys don't know how to read. There is no need to think graphically
just at the though of what the PS3 is capable of (even though I agree, the
PS3 is a hell of a machine).
He chose this system because he likes the "specs" whether he meant graphic
wise or not, HE DID NOT SAY. So, correction, so what if it has simple graphics,
the fact of the matter is that he likes the hardware (for whatever reason), and
if its possible do it on the gamecube is irrelevant.

with all the slowdown in beautiful katamary, im hapy that they made this choice :D ...and i hope that people realise that the preview video was just the 'idea' of what the game will be and not the final product...they only wanted to show how the game will be based on physic (and it did a really good job for a begening)

I am far from an "xbot" dude. It's so easy to label people though, huh?
If you actually read both of my posts, you would understand that because I bet this game is going to be fun.

how come no one has called him a lazy dev yet?
after all he's saying its too much work to go multiplatform, surely that defines what lazy means. i mean he cant claim its about money or he wouldnt be making it on the ps3.

This early on in such a new platforms lifetime it's kinda weird for a developer to actualy want to develop for it over easier to develop for ,more established consoles , but then considering what a simple game it is the "specs" of the system wouldn't make a huge amount of difference.
I don't think it would be fanboyish to call this guy an idiot.

He´s not a lazy dev. He wants to concentrate 100% on making his game for the console he thinks best suits his game. He´s up to the challenge of coding for a different system. Glad to see he enjoys the specs of the PS3.

No lazy is not doing a good job at doing whatever your doing, in this case making games.
Staying on 1 platform could be seen at worst as narrow minded or just that this developer wants to stick with 1 title on 1 platform because they don't have the resorces to do multi platform and don't want to stretch and end up like other multi platform titles under developed.
Your ability to constantly only have bad things to say about the ps3 is amazing I have to compliment you on your sony hatred it never ends it seems lol.

no lazy is releasing a game with slim down features because you didn't want to figure out how to implement them.

With a game exclusive for the ps3 titled nuby nuby boy, the ps3 is rockin!:p
If this game comes out in the states at all the name will change. Nuby Nuby Boy sounds like an obscure NES title that would be reviewed on an AVGN youtube review. This game will never move units. Please keep this garbage on the george foremen grill, ok thanks!:)

well, it wasn't the media (BD) specs. that much is for sure.

ahum, not that he needed to be defended by me, but just for clearance: how in the world is grapeape an "xbot" as you call it? how in the world? have you read any of his other psts? i am glad that the grapester is here as he is one of the few people i would call neutral and objective on ANY matter.

ok, if you insist on it: what a lazy bastard not going multiplatform. :D
but seriously, his stament is pretty solid. he prefers one part of the tech specs of the ps3 and to fulfill his creative vision he chooses this platform.
i would prefer it if more people would do that, no matter for which console. it is better then spit out another halfdone version on another platform. x-plattform ports suck anyways.
plus, this seems as game that will have the biggest part of its sales in japan so the wii would be the only port that would make sense as the 360 has nearly no market share there. it was the same with halo3 which only made sense on the 360, apart from the fact that bungie was owned my ms at that time of course. that game was aimed at the american market which is perfect for games like that and the 360 is only REALLY succesfull in the USA.

Do you just post crap without reading...did I once mention the ps3 or unhappiness that it was ps3 only? Hell all I said was I didnt really get the demo but thought it would probably be fun anyway because Katamari was...dont be such a fanboy even when people are saying nice things you think they are attacking your beloved console....

Don't know why people consider this thing a matter of "decision to make it exclussive".... is a contract!, "take the money, and don't port"... "on the corner you can get extra $$$$ for saying " I decided to make it exclussive '...:o
