1. install the via card into a pci slot in your pc and disconnect all sata cable and ide cable to all your extra hdd and dvd burner, dvd rom, only keep one cable going into which ever is your main hdd with winxp on it.
2. connect the sata cable to your benq drive in the xbox360 to your sata port on your via card.
3. turn on your pc and press f2 at startup to go into your bios and turn off all sata port in your computer except for the sata port that is connected to your main hdd with winxp in it
4. turn off your pc and turn it on again, once winxp is finish booting up turn on your xbox 360.
5. start dosflash32 and it will ask you a question, choose yes and turn off your xbox360, now count to 5 and turn your xbox360 on again and the dosflash32 gui will pop up.
6. choose read for flash task and click read flash and it will ask you where to save your firmware. save it either to your ixtreme fast or quiet folder and name the file orig.bin. dosflash32 should finish ripping u the orignal firmware. it should be 256kb. after it finish getting the orignal firmware turn off your xbox360
7. now go into either your fast or quiet folder and click the make ixtreme firmware.cmd and now you should have a new file in the folder called benq-ix.bin
8. turn on your xbox360, open up dosflash32 and it will ask you a question, choose yes, turn off your 360, count to 5 and turn it on and the dosflash32 gui should pop up now. choose write in the flash task. click read flash and go to where your benq-ix.bin and choose it. it will started flashing the hacked ixtreme.

**note** i did not install any via card driver. if winxp tell you it found new hardware and you need to install driver just click cancel

i hope this help some of you. enjoy

sometimes with via when you write the ixtreme firmware to the drive you might encounter probs like freezing.to get round it just choose erase and erase the fw from the benq then write the ixtreme to the benq.

be sure to have the orig.bin safe.best is to check the orig.bin and even the ixtreme fw with fwtoolbox v4.5 for the key.

hey all, i have been trying this with my via 6421 and everything goes ok until i type orig.bin to save it to the fast or quiet folder. It doesn't freeze, but the filename immediately appears in the folder and is 0 k. Any ideas would be appreciated:)

I kept freezing so I used dosflash16 after booting into dos using a external HDD with 98 boot files on it. Dosflash16 is surprisingly easy to use and VERY VERY noob friendly. Only advice to anyone using dosflash16...UNPLUG EVERYTHING! CD/DVD drives, Hard drives, All SATA/IDE...practically everything but the power to the PC..lol Took like 2 min once started to complete.
