Hi guys, my 360's hdd is playing up after Halo 3 & I need to do a format on it, but I don't want to lose my saves & profile, I have tried plugging in my External USB HDD which is formated to Fat32 but the 360 doesn't let me backup any of my saves & profile ?? does anyone know of an answer I know it must be something I am doing, cause I have no probs backing up my PS3 saves this way.

i think you'll need to get a memory stick, and backup the savegames etc on to that ...

A memory stick ??? WTF I just plus any usb device into my PS3 & backup why can't you do the same on the 360, if that is the case then fucking hell how lame is this shitty 360, I am fed up with MS crap, if it wasn't for Mass Effect coming out I wouldn't even bother any more with my 360

afaik, yes. You need to plug a memory stick in.
I think that it is due to ms trying to control the drm. But don't quote me on that.
If you don't like it, fine. But if that's the only way of doing it, then it's the only way.
I do remember reading somewhere that you can use one of those blaster360 (or whatever they're called) where you can connect the 360 to your pc, and transfer the data that way. So I guess that you could probably open up the inside of the 360, and connect the sata controller from the hdd to the pc instead of to the 360?! I have no idea as it was ages since I last looked inside the 360, and didn't even look into whether this was possible...
