HITACHI 79FL update

hey there.. i was just wondering if anyone can confirm that a no-mod firmware flash is in the works for the HITACHI 79FL drives...i know about the passkey but id rather not do all that,,, surface mount soldering is not fun!!
i read a few things here and there about people working to unlock the 79s but looks like most of those posts were a few months ago with no updates...
do i have ANY other options other then the passkeys? will reg modchips work?

thanks bro.. i just searched for nme-1.2 and it seems like its not 100% working with the 79FL drives..
dose anyone know when the nme "update" is comeing?

i have installed of 40 NME 1.2 in 0079FL with no issues what so ever
