few rookie questions

Hi there, kinda new here... just got my slim today, working like a charm, friend helped me get on 3.6 M33, works wonder now... but here's a few questions

1. Is there a way i can download the files through wireless instead of through USB? i kinda don't have the USB cable right now.

2. is it worth it to go to 3.71?

3. that friend of mine is on 3.03 OE-B on his fat and is wondering how he could upgrade easily to 3.71, is there such a guide somewhere?

4. wtf is ms0:/

5. Anything a new hardcore homebrewer should know?

1. I assume you mean transfer from PC to PSP via wifi, in which case the only thing i know of is IRShell. It can stream ISO/CSO files via wifi so you can probably configure it to use wifi for file transfer. I've never tried it though so that's just theory.

2. That's pretty much down to personal choice. There are no games that require 3.71 yet and i don't think that 3.71 gives you a whole lot in the way of new features. I would probably wait for the 3.71 kernel update before updating to be honest.

3. I would tell him to upgrade to 3.52 M33-4 and stick on that for the moment. There is no 1.50 kernel support on 3.71 M33 at the moment meaning that a lot of homebrew designed for the 1.50 kernel (which is a lot of it right now) won't work. 3.52 M33-4 has both 1.50 and 3.xx kernels so you can run everything not slim specific.

4. ms0: is the memory stick with ms0:/ being the root of the memory stick (ms0:/PSP/GAME being the game folder).

5. See 3, you can't run all homebrew on the slim yet. An update is coming soon to fix this from what i have seen posted around here.

erm i new to the whole customizing, and i am usin the 3.71 from sonys siteon my fat psp. erm i was just wunering wat the 3.71 mm3 is?! is the wat i downloaded from sony? also is there a forum were i can get custom themes tht will work on my software?

Hmmm, looked really hard for info didn't you.

3.71 M33 is a custom firmware and it's not from Sony. It's just a wild guess but you might find some info in the firmware section.

I don't know if the 3.71 official themes work on the fat psp as it's been so long since i ran one of Sony's crap firmwares (and i never will again) but you can only get them from Sony until they release the tools they promised to allow custom themes. Knowing Sony they will release them 3 years from now, charge you for them, only let you download them using a PS3 and not allow you to do much more than change the background colours.

Sony basically stole the custom theme idea for the custom firmware users and are probably looking for a way to make a bit of quick cash from it as it's that's the only reason they ever include anything they don't have to into their crapware.
