Bricked Wii Question

I have a Bricked Wii 3.0 modded with a wiikey. My question is, I am buying a new one and was wondering. Since I have a modded wii drive already. Would there be any issues if I just swap the rom drive instead of removing the chip and then reinstalling it. Also should i update the new wii to 3.0 before the swap.

you shouldn't have any problems with just swapping the drive. I have done this before without an issues.
