I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I wanted to run it by you guys in case I missed something. I'm working on a bricked original PSP (don't know how it got bricked). I've used Pandora to downgrade to 1.5 via the normal method, now at 1.5 I can hear the bootup noise, but nothing shows up on the screen. The brightness button doesn't help. At one point, I heard it go into the BSOD, I hit "O" and it did not re-boot. At another point, I could hear it booting up, then turning itself off, then booting up again, etc. etc. I tried flashing a custom firmware NAND dump (3.52 M33-4 without ID Storage), no help. Back to 1.5, no help.
I'm willing to bet that it's beyond repair (by Pandora anyway). Any ideas as to what it might be or how to fix it? Is it a messed up ID Storage? Broken motherboard?

Having read a few post in the last days regarding Pandora, I'd say hardware failure. Even psp's with corrupt ID storage cab be recovered.

LCD or backlight fault...... could also be the fuse on the motherboard

Thanks for the quick answers. Come to think of it, the PSP's led that indicates that it's charging isn't working either (Memory Stick LED works fine). If it is a hardware failure, then it's beyond me. IS there a chance that it's an ID Storage issue, and if so, what's the easiest way to restore the ID Storage (TA-082 motherboard). Everything I've read says that I can't flash another PSP's ID Storage to this one, but if there is a way to repair it, please let me know. Thanks.

You could try to use KeyCleaner. But you'll need a working psp to give you a time indication of loading the program to know which button to push at wich time, since you don't have a working screen.
Downgrade with Pandora, upgrade to cfw and then run keycleaner. Might be difficult, but worth a shot.
Using an other dump of the ID storage won't work.
Good luck trying. If something fails, no worry, always repaireble with Pandora, as for the flash part. Maybe a cleaned up IDstorage will bring the screen back.

Get ahold of a custom firmware NAND of 3.52 M33 without any updates
flashing a nand with the 4 update won't work because people were editing
there work rember the bricking issue and saffin bricked his ass
so try that and good luck

I managed to find another thread here with a similar problem, and their solution was to update to 2.71... so I did. Funny enough, the screen is working again, but it's still got issues. It powers on just fine, but after about 3 seconds it turns itself off, then reboots about 15 seconds later (repeat).
Thoughts?

i say downgrade back to 1.5 then upgrade to 2.71 again and see if anything happens.
That happened to one of my friends but I don't know what he did.
Good luck man
