how to boot psx games on modded pstwo?

ok guys here's the story. i got my friend a modded ps2 from asia and we're trying to run psx games on it. it doesnt autoboot and no i dont know what chip is in it.

so far i've tried going into dvd mode on it and it doesnt work. dvd mode for the ps2 i figured out was to hold the power button for about 2 seconds after you put in the dvd. i'm guessing the mod that's in the ps2 isnt one of the better ones as the better ones i'm reading can autoboot anything.

any suggestions what to do? and yes it is the slim pstwo. also is there an autoboot mode or anything like that i am not aware of?

Er... I posted the answer in some of the forums.

It's like this:

All PS2s (fat and slim) are the same and there is no autoboot. If the guys in the shop told it has autoboot, you were fooled. No modchip can do autoboot except to boot backup PS2 games.

To boot PSX games and other regional DVD's (if your ps2 is PAL, then the disc is NTSC) here's how:

Booting PSX games (works on ANY ps2 with modchips)

place a game for PSX/PS1

Turn on your PS2

press reset twice

and it's ready.


Booting NTSC movie DVD discs

place a movie

Turn on your PS2

press reset 3 times

and it's ready!

Same goes for those PS2 which region is NTSC and same booting procedure.

works everytime!

Thanks it works!!!! dvds for this ps2 is weird. you put in a dvd, as you boot it up you hold the power button/reset button (pstwo) for half a second and it boots up dvds.

but anyways thx again the ps1 thing works.
