Option 1

Get yourself a copy of swapmagic and a slide key or a fliptop lid..

or

Buy yourself a decent IDE hard drive, a network adapter and get yourself a copy of HDadvance or HDloader and look up "independance exploit" for the PS2.

If can put it all together then you can install your backups to the hard drive and play them from there.

Honestly, forget the swap thing at least for 90 % of all ps2 titles.

Its a ticket for hell.. You will slowly damage your dvd tray and laser optic using backups. Manage your fat ps2. They are the oldest but the bests.

Use HDloader (free) with a hdd :P and a network adapter. Look for the exploit installation guide. and have fun!

Hmm, I have an extra old 20GB harddrive in my computer, could I use that in my PS2?

but do you need to run the independence exploit if you just want to run PS2 games from the HD with HD Advance?

You can either buy the retail HDLoader, or buy swap disks (or whatever other means to install the exploit) to install HDLoader onto the memory card.

You can also use an Action Replay Max or a Pelican Codebreaker and a USB drive to install HDLoader onto a PS2 memory card. Thats what I did.
