Hey all,

Been saving up for a PSP Lite when they come out (got a friend that says his store has them in stock to be released September 11th).

Ive been looking to see if there's been any success in modding hte firmware for it but haven't seen squat all except for the bit about Pandora's battery not working.

Has anyone seen anything about this being successfully modded to be able to play backups off the memory cards and so forth? I'm getting back into the military soon hehe, I wants my PSP lite all gussied up and ready to roll ;)

Thanks all!

This would hit the news very fast if it did happen, and the forums would be filled with info about it. As a general rule of thumb, if you can't find it quickly it probably hasn't happened yet :P

More like if you can't escape it, then it hasn't happened..

I wish I could get away from all this Pandora business... I haven't bricked since the custom firmwares came out

I am (was?) a hardware unbricker for the non-slim models.
I've opened up a slim and taken a look at the mb.

And I can say that even hardware modding/flashing looks pretty slim for the slim (no pun intended).
At least not in the meantime.

Yours and everyone's best bet to downgrade this is to pray for a loophole in the 3.6 fw. And for god's sake, don't upgrade when 3.61 or whatever is released.

The general consensus is that the Slim will not even support the 1.50 kernel, so "downgrading" as we know it may not even be an option.

However, hopefully an exploit will allow a HEN patch to enable homebrew, and then we will be able to install an entire custom firmware (IPL and all). I believe there are people working on such a thing as we speak...but I think it may be a little while coming, so don't hold your breath!

there are still some games left with an exploit. (like gta or lumines)
we just need to wait until the slim psp's are in the stores and hope sony didnt fix the exploits in firmware 3.60. then we can atleast run hen homebrew on the psp slim, and you know its just a matter of time before someone figures out a downgrader then :D

What are the benefits of the new PSP? Besides the following :

Newer LCD
TV Out
64 megs ram
33% lighter and a tad thinner

I know the minus's of it are :

No homebrew
No firmware downgrades

god damn, are people ever going to shut up about this?!?

NO ONE WILL KNOW FOR SURE WHAT WILL OR WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE UNTIL SOMEONE THAT COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO HACK IT GETS ONE!!!

This whole subject is getting extremely old. there's probably about 10 + threads about this.

WE ALL KNOW BY NOW, PANDORA DOES NOT WORK ON THE SLIM.

Obviousely, older game exploits like Lumines won't work either. THEY FIXED THOSE ALREADY. if they don't work on 3.51 what the HELL makes you think they'll work on 3.60?!?

there won't be vulnerabilities on 3.60 that they have already fixed!

My thoughts are as the psp slim isnt out yet nobody has had a chance to even have a look to see what can be done. I would give it at least 1 month after release before we hear the first thing, then it'll be a few months after that before we see the first custom firmware for the slim.

I'm in no hurry as the pandora battery just got released so there is nearly no such thing as a psp brick anymore. Well, a software brick anyway. There will still be hardware bricks.

What will $ony do about the PSP Slim bricking? Will it have a backup firmware as the ram is big enough now. There might not be a way to brick it?

ram is emptied every time its turned off....

There will eventually be a hack for the slim, it's always possible and thus it always happens. either through a mod chip or a new IPL for Pandora's Battery or maybe a different game or other type of exploit.

I think the most likely hack that will do it is the Pandora's Battery just with a different way of signing the Custom IPL.

I'd bet that 1.50 would work on the Slim. 3.60 probably just has more security and new plugins for the added features. why do people think that the entire system will be different?

really, the fact that the Pandora's Battery puts the PSP in 'Service Mode' should show you all that the hardware hasn't changed that much (other than the casing and video out).

Hey Scotty, instead of shitting a brick why not just ignore the post altogether if there are 10 different posts about this? All your post did was bump it back to the top. Thanks! :p

By the way, turn off the capslock and go to www.dictonary.com for spelling issues you apparently have.

Seems to me that there are alot of reviewers getting Slims to do pieces on. A friend of mine has them in stock at his local store, says they are to be released on Sept. 11th.

Keep it up champ! We can always use your vast resources to assist us in further posts, your wit and charm will win the masses over eventually.

Thanks to those who have posted constructive responses.

The reason I made the OP is that I HAVE already surfed the forums looking for any real updated news, as well as several other sites. I haven't seen much of anything recent besides the Pandora battery news. News is news, just because you havent seen it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

lol, you're pretty constructive to the subject also, can't even get the correct release date from your friend that supposedly knows when it is... everywhere i look it says the 10th. (not that it even matters, just pointing out that you haven't had anything 'constructive' either).

there haven't been any 'constructive' responses to this issue ever since people posted ORIGINALLY that the Pandora's Battery doesn't work, and that only the power LED turns on.

the rest has ALL been useless guessing that has lead to idiotic questions and pointless threads.

yeah, very constructive indeed, jack@ss!

obviousely there hasn't... news like that would be easy to find.

My guess is that you're regular ARMY.

I said that at HIS store they are releasing it on the 11th, not that it was being released everywhere else on the 11th. The 10th would make sense because it's a Monday, but as with hardware release dates who can be 100% sure unless you have the official info right in front of you?

As for useless guess and idiotic thread posts, you've done your share so welcome to the club, you already have membership reserved. Awesome.

And I'm an asshole, not a jack@ss.

Edit : Canadian Armed Forces Weapons Tech, possibly Combat Engineer if I decide to change trades. Debating taking my commission to officer for the pay raise but it's too much desk work, I like to be hands on. It would make use of my degree though.

that's gotta be a great way for his store to make sales... release it the day after everyone else so most of the people that want one already have one and won't buy from you. i doubt any store is actually going to try to decrease their sales by doing that.

ah, i guess you're smarter than i thought, i was guessing american army...

Your wise words never cease to amaze me.

I take it you haven't considered that not every store in North America isn't smack in the middle of a bustling metropolis and alot of people are willing to wait, and the store may be closed for...oh I don't know, maintenance or something of the sort?

Stores here in my part Canada are open every day of the week. They pick the slowest business day(s) for closing to do maintenance, etc.

What a novel idea!

i don't have wise words, just pointless blabbering. :D

i would have thought you would have noticed that by now... judging from the (not so) suddle sarcasm, you probably have.

yeah, i know suddle is spelled wrong, i can tell 'cuz it's underlined in red. i'm just too lazy to google every other word i write.

You know that the internet is for educated fact only. I was surprised to find porn on it one day. I almost passed out.

And yes, I'm very subtle. Because I'm good looking.

thats what custom IPL is for and/or idstorage patching.

the UMD door does look less professional, and a snap close might not be a good thing.

depends on if they added anything to make it so there's less scarping / grinding on whatever they put to hold it closed. but even if they did, it's most likely still going to grind down a bit over time.

if the piece that holds it closed gets ground down a bit, the UMD door may end up flopping open when you don't want it to.

I want a Slim PSP. i'm gonna keep my original PSP until the Slim gets hacked though, i'm too addicted to the game 'Snake' that comes with LuaPlayer to get rid of my fat PSP.

The funny part is you never clicked on the link, thus you just not as cool as I am in being awesome at snazzy comebacks. Even my official board manbitch Scotty1982 can see your a semi-sentient keyboard clicking My Little Pony watching mongoloid son of a inbred.

BTW what type of name is Munkor? It sounds like something that dribbles from the end of a diseased pimps ****.I think you should check that site out also, all sorts of good links there. Might be of help next time you register a forums account.
