my friend had a brick recently so me and him tried to make a pandoras battery using the easier installer, however when i went to insert the memory stick and battery into the brick nothing happened (the green light came on but no screen came up and there were no loading sounds). on top of that my battery went from 100% to 55% to 0% in a matter of minutes (this battery i was using to power my psp for the pandoras battery process. it was NOT intended to be turned into the unbricker) and it will also not charge which led me to believe that i may have confused a step and over written some of the files in the battery. does anyone have any knowledge on these two issues?

it can be a problem with the hardware. does the pandora's battery + MS work on a good PSP? if so its something the pandora might not be able to fix on the bricked unit.

no it doesnt. at first we wernt even sure if it WAS a brick since when you turned it on the memory stick light would flash it would make a sound but nothing happened, recovery mode wouldnt load either. its really strange since he didnt even touch anything it just magically bricked......

I too have a similar issue when I run the pandora downgrader i keep getting 'battery must be at least 50% message', the battery is fully charged I've tried different firmware versions 1.50, 2.00 2.71 and 3.50 but always the same message. The Jig battery and memory stick have worked fine on another PSP - any ideas please ??

RTFM mate:
- Only Memory Stick Pro Duo are compatible. Memory Stick Duo
(e.g. 32MB sticks) are not supported.
32 Meg cards are DUO only not Pro Duo.

are you serious!? lol i thought pro duo and duo had to do with physically size (the longer versions being duo and the shorter versions being pro duo) oh well atleast i know what the proiblem is. thanks:D

ok ive unbricked my friends psp but there is still the matter of my battery. im thinking that the problem lies with in a corruption of the data in the battery itself. has someone uploaded their battery's backed up files or could someone? i did so myself but through the haedache of installing and reinstalling i have lost them :(

I've had a similar thing. Have you tried turning it off and on again a few times after the black screen?

I had a similar problem with a battery. Here's what I did:
Before changing the battery to service mode, MAKE SURE you choose the backup option first. I didn't do this on one of my batteries and when I went to restore it, the battery would no longer charge. I did find a fix for this though. All you do is restore the battery back to normal by pressing [] I think in pandoras menu. Take the battery out then run a wire (I used a paperclip) between the + and - on the battery to short it and bingo! Fixed battery.
See if that works.

It's not related to the battery. The only thing that changes is the battery's serial number, and it either works or doesn't work. Either you can use it to go into service mode, or you can't, and it hasn't changed. There is no in between.

umm im not sure i want to do that especially since lithium ion batteries can explode when shorted. can anyone else confirm this?

so what your saying is that my battery messed up coincidentally and that pandoras battery installation had nothing to do with it?

more or less, as the battery is hardware the serial number is only for the software portion, the battery will still perform its intended function no matter what it's serial number is, there's no "smarts" on the battery itself to stop it from being a functioning battery

then the question is why has the battery crapped out in the first place?

Your battery eeprom is probably corrupted. To fix this take an eeprom dump from a working battery using the pandora installer and write it to yours. The batteries will have the same serial but it wont cause any problem at all.
