I'm sick of resizing each video file each time they start up. I have been using XBMC for over 3 years and have never found out how to not have to resize my video files each time they start up. My TV is a 30" 1080i HDTV. I have any and all setting in XBMC set to widescreen and 1080i. I have "Scene Releases"

If you mean going through the settings such as normal, zoom, etc.
Then go to the video settings, choose what you want and set as default.

make sure your calibration is correct also, that breaks everything too

Not sure if it helps but check - Settings>System>Video Hardware>Video Aspect

I don't know since I don't have an HDTV but you may need to set this to Normal (not widescreen) so that it adjusts to each file properly. I just know that's what I'm set at and when I play something that's widescreen I get the bars (as it should be) and when I play a TV show or something formatted it fills the screen. (or smaller black bars depending on the resolution)
