im trying yet again to flash my xbox 360 with an ms28 drive. i successfully got it to copy the orig.bin file. However, when i tried to flash it (using iPrep btw) i got an 'error failed to read input file'. now i have an e65 error and the xbox now sits at the port error and wont flash anything or attempt to. Any suggestions?

read a tutorial.use the search function or google.
if not then supply someone with your originbal fw (orig.bin) and get them to do it for you,cos your asking the same old s**t as all the rest of the noobs instead of reading.
so personaly i say.if you cant read then forget hacking your drive.
or ask something that aint been asked before.

Well instead of being a useless prick:rolleyes: I'll try and help you out. I was in the same predicament as you a few days ago, spent a good 4 hours trying to reflash the orig.bin file at least to bring my drive back to life. I searched and read many articles/forums/tutorials and they were all basically the same(power off, select the drive, wait 10 secs...etc). I finally found a forum topic(not here) regarding this issue and this is what it said to do and it worked for me the first time. Boot up to dos/iprep with the 360 already powered but SATA cable out,Insert SATA into Xbox, type Mtkflash w /m orig.bin(or whatever your file's called) and hit enter, power off the xbox, count to 10,power on the xbox,as soon as the four green lights all start flashing together select your drive and it should start flashing away. Hope this helps.

thanks for that tanooki.tell him to basicly do what he probably has been doing already.
the error file not found has more to do with the file he wants to flash to the drive.
either he is typing the wrong name like:
mtkflash w /m ****.bin
or basicly make sure the bin file you wanna flash to the drive is the correct one, named correctly and in the correct place.

Well if he is following textbooks guide then what I told him to do he is not doing...I used that guide to do my 28 drive and got the same error message and it E 65'd my drive as well. He may be a complete idiot,I don't know, but it's not that hard to check the USB stick and make sure the file he wants to copy is on there and if it's too hard to write down or remember the file name(or when you spend hours trying to re-flash like I did and get lazy) just rename it 0.bin.
