1: I'd say they all have the same speed, although the MicroSD cards have different read/write ones.
2: It plays NDS backups, DPG videos and some audio formats too.
3: Yes, all MicroSD cards are compatible, but you should get a Kingston made in Japan card.
4: Yes you can.
5: Well, it looks like they are, at least that's what they say.
6: Well, they all work, but some work slower...I don't guarantee those sandisk ones don't work as fine as the kingston one since I don't have any of those, but other people can help you out with that.
7: You can only play NES and SNES games (also some other systems, but not GBA and N64), and the emulators for the ds don't work with every game. To play gba games you'll need to get a slot2 card.
In my case I have a R4DS with a Kingston 1GB Japanese card, they all work perfectly, and they do all I want: download play, playing backups and running homebrew.
Also the slower MicroSD cards will work fine on most games, but Castlevania POR and maybe a couple of other ones have been reported to lock up sometimes.

about the action replay codes, I'd say most if not all the Slot-1 carts now support it.
