View Full Version : Enterbain: 80GB PS3 heading to Japan, 20 & 60GB to phase out
The chief marketing analyst of Japanese publisher Enterbain has revealed that he expects Japan to receive an 80GB version of the PS3 just as North America has done so as well as expecting the 20GB and 60GB SKUs to be phased out.
Enterbrain’s chief marketing analyst Mitsunobu Uwatoko revealed to MCV that, following the PS3’s price cut in the US and the introduction of the 80GB version, the Japanese industry is expecting a similar move in the territory – despite the fact that Sony has instead chosen to introduce a bundle similar to the European pack.
“The $100 price cut with the 20GB upgrade in the US was not really surprising, as there have been rumours, given that the PS3 has been struggling.
It’s like the time has come,” said Uwatoko. “In Japan too, PS3’s HDD will perhaps be much bigger. And nobody thinks that the 60GB or the 20GB will last much longer.”

Today I held a PS3 controller for the first time. Now I see why they don't have any PS3's on display. I could not have been more disappointed, the controller was light and tacky, you can see through the black plastic if you hold it up to the light... and what the hell did they do to the L2 and R2 buttons? Completely awful. Combine that with the fact that there's no rumble function and you may as well plug a NES controller into your PS3.

I can understand the see through if up to the light bit as not keen on that myself otherwise can't see how its tacky. Yes its light which I like after being used to wireless third party controllers on the ps2, but if it didn't have the battery then it might be a bit too light for my liking so nice balance at the moment. And I think the l2 and r2 button changes are a big improvement with a definate analogue feel to them now that feels right and an understated addition especially when mapped for acceleration on gripshift. But then again you oviously like the dreamcast controller that was great but way to bulky for me.
