Please help with a strange wiikit problem

Hi, I recently bought a wiikit to mod my wii(one of the earliest models). Problem is, I installed the wires and the soldering looks fine but when I plug in the wiikit it wont load official or backup games, and when I unplug it it works fine again. I should be happy that at least it still takes originals but I would really like to play backups! Im confused as usually when a chip is bad it will still play originals (judging from posts around here) so does anybody have an idea what the problem could be? If its the chip how could I check?

have you tried the wiikey set up disc yet?

I haven't, (i will though) but it wont take backup or real disks so I doubt its going to work

Ok, just to let people know, my wiikit is now working. I was advised somewhere to cover the wiikit in insulation tape because the number 1 and 2 pads extend out through the bottom of the chip and might short against the case.
I then loaded the wiikey 1.2 setup disk and it worked! Im not sure what actually fixed my problem but im playing my backups now no problem.

Ps. Is there any really good ntsc games (released in the states) that arent available in Europe/Ireland yet that will work with a modded PAL wii?
