Hi guys,

something a little weird after going from m33 3.51 to m33 3.52 (both auto installers)... this worked for a while then all of a sudden a few ISOs stopped working.

Homebrew was working fine, but ISOs would just go to a black screen. I thought this might be a bug, so I upgraded to 3.52-2. After another reset of ISOs not working, I noticed two coloured icons below the 'internet' icon, one with (I cant exactly remember) 'playTV' (white icon) and another with 'player connect' (or something like that) icon (this was yellow). I also think the 'location free player' icon was gone, but i'm not 100% sure.

Stupidly i didnt get a pic, and i carried on trying to work out why things werent working. When loading an ISO i let it continue and it loaded the UMD.

Must be resetting the recovery then.... low and behold the recovery had pretty much everything enabled, autoboot and hard reset homebrew included. I put all the setting back to what I would consider normal and ISOs work again. Everything works fine until I hard reset, then recovery seems to loose its settings and have everything enabled.

Has anyone else notice that recovery hasnt saved its settings?
or have I done something inadvertently???
Any advice, before I purge and start again with 1.50??

I have an official sony MS, recent reset default settings. Had CWF before with no problems, only in last couple o days.

Narrowing it down a little.

If I make changes to the recovery menu settings, boot XMB, Hard reset: then nothing changes and all recovery settings are saved, lovely.

If I make changes to the recovery, boot XMB, change to a wallpaper on the MS, hard reset: then the recovery menu has pretty much everything enabled and ISO dont load (because of recovery settings). Even the wallpaper that was set becomes a black screen when it gets to the XMB (despite it using a wallpaper in set XMB settings).

So anyone else get this recovery not saving it settings??

I'd say format flash1 and/or delete config.se from flash1.

yes that will fix the problem. A corrupt config.se I think

I didnt at the time, but I have now! It did exist. I deleted config.se from flash1 and it does as expected now, saves background pic and retains recovery settings.

Thank you very much!

P.s. Anyone know what those two icons that randomly turned up under the web browser were?? additions to up and coming FW??

By loosing its settings your custom firmware has turned the "fake region" option to "japanese" giving you a wonderful japanese xmb ;-) Try it yourself by activating this option in the recovery menu.

I've had similar issues with UMD's not working and recovery settings not being saved. It's happened when I upgraded to 3.52-M33 and also with 3.52-M33-2.
The weird thing is that it only happens if I try to use a wallpaper. If I don't use a picture and stay with the regular theme, everything works fine and nothing ever changes. How can I get it to work with a wallpaper?

Whatever's gone wrong with 3.52 probably won't be fixed when you install 3.52-2, as those weren't huge changes, keep that in mind! So try reinstalling 3.52-1 then 3.52-2 again

the flash1/vsh/theme folder is where the custom wallpaper is saved. if you use the flash1 format in the M33 recovery menu it wont make this folder.... and your wallpaper wont stay! so, check to see if you have the folders. if not make them. also if you still have probs delete config.se in flash1 also:D

Don't be a lazy ass, use a regular installer.
